Very painful clip. I cannot believe he did that. I am surprised no one beat him down.
Now my dilemma, I have a picture of Kramer above my fireplace, just because it looks cool, I am wondering if I should take it down.

Yeah, his stand up sucked anyways.
Who is “they”? Does this include all black people or just “those” black people?
There is a huge difference between “my nigga” and “get out of my neighborhood, you nigger”. If you don’t know the difference, it is because you don’t want to understand the difference.
I’ve had black friends that I called “my nigga” before, which they did’nt give one shit about because we were tight (mostly an old best friend), as a black man, do you think it is unacceptable for me being white to do this? Or is it fine because there is no racial attatchment to it. Also why can black guys call me white boy and cracker and it’s “ok” to them.
Agreed, peoples views are skewed the only see what they don’t like most of the time.
What about someone of another race using it to describe someone in a joke?
Mine is prolly retarded, I don’t understand the whole racially motivated thing that well so i’m prolly just ignorant, just wanted your views.
I am often amazed at the disconnection many “non-blacks” seem to have towards issues involving race in this country. I can only imagine this exists because the experience of any racist views expressed towards non-whites is such a rare occurrence that the issue itself seems completely alien.
CULTURE is the basis for how most people treat other people when it comes to close relationships or friendships. I have white friends that I would “dap” instead of shake their hand because, one, they understand what it means, and two, they are from a similar background and wouldn’t react like some others as if they wouldn’t know how to respond to anything other than a formal handshake.

Wouldn’t that depend on the joke and the individual? If it were actually funny and not blatantly offensive, there would be no problem. Obviously, someone who is not black would have a larger hurdle to jump in terms of using a word that has such a history behind it. Again, the fact that this needs to be explained at all is what has me shaking my head.
Honestly, what is there to not understand?
He was dead wrong but it would be interesting to hear what the two guys were yelling at him and disrupting the show for the whole room. The problem is its makes better “news” to only show one side of the problem. After his outburst, they have gone from assholes to “victims”. His timing was great though, he took the focus right off of O.J.

That’s the first thing my GF and I thought. How did this guy get off stage without being whipped within an inch of his life?
Yeah, I think you’re going to have to take the photo down, I know which one you mean, and it is cool, but it might as well be a picture of David Duke you’ve got hanging with the kind of white hot racism he has in his heart.
As for how to handle hecklers, Kramer could learn a lesson from Bill Burr and how he handled a Philly crowd who had been brutal to all the comedians who went on before him.
B.
Damn! Bill Burr is the fuckin man! He flamed the entire city of Philadelphia without stopping for 10 minutes. That dude out-did Bill Hicks by a mile!

Bill Burr is brilliant and that was the funniest thing I’ve seen in my life.
EDIT: And here’s a tip of the hat to Gilbert for recovering from a booing for a 9/11 joke

Well, he didn’t call anyone a nigger, which I suppose is an improvement.
Honestly, bill hicks is good, but the hero worship goes too far. All he does in this clip is swear a lot and call her a woman. I fail to see the genius of it.

Forgiven by some, but never forgotten by most. As far as a comparison to Mel Gibson, a racists true colors will eventually shine through. I was somewhat surprised/shocked. On television he does not come across as such, but I guess that’s why they call it acting.
Something tells me if he launched into a tirade about black people in the middle of an episode it wouldn’t make it past editing…

It went like that because two guys being assholes doesn’t matter. A well known celebrity flaunting his racism in a burst of total insantiy, does.

I am white and I am not bothered in the slightest by being called cracker, nor have I ever met or heard of a white person who really minds being called cracker. Well, any more than being called asshole, cunt-rag, donkey-fucker…whatever…
We don’t mind because its not actually racism. I realize that is how racism is usually used, but the “academic” (i feel gross saying that) definition is a little more specific. Racism is racial descrimination from a position of power.
So when a white guy calls a black guy a nigger, in North America, behind it is the weight of 500 years of oppression. If a white guy hates african americans there is a damn good chance that he can have that beleif reflected in places like government, as it so frequently is.
The white community of north america has the power realize and enforce its beleifs on everyone else. The insert non-white north american minority here community doesn’t have that power. African Americans can hate crackers all they want, but the chances of it really changing anything, on more than the individual level, are slim.
The difference between cracker and nigger is the difference between a savage tickling and getting a steel toed boot in the teeth.

There are probably more black people who would make an effort to not use and publically decrease the usage
of the word in casual conversation than there are those who actually use it.
Chris Rock using the term in a JOKE as a way to describe people OF HIS OWN RACE is not the same as someone FROM ANOTHER RACE using the term as pure DEGRADATION.
Did that really need to be explained to you? If so, why? Please give details of how your social awareness is so developmentally retarded
Ok so blacks can say nigger because it’s a form of brotherly greeting between blacks…like a white man saying…HI ? And it’s okay for Black comedians to use it in their routine to negatively describe their race …Because it’s a black man saying racist remarks about black people…?
well if that’s your logic then what gives the black comedians the right to make racial jokes regarding white stereo types ?..Or the ability to use the racial slurs…CRACKER…HONKEY…their not white people making fun of other white people …I can only come up with one answer …DOUBLE STANDARD …
Now I commonly hear the B.S. excuse as to why the the Nigger word hits home so hard with "YOUNG " black people ,and it usually sounds like this…Blacks are so sensitive to the word nigger ,Because of the things they were put through that they associate with that word…I hear these excuses from Blacks in the 15-35 year old range very often …Well from what I remember of history class Slavery was over long long before the 70’s …
So these young blacks that claim the word NIGGER hits so hard from deep routed hardships placed on them by white society …ARE FULL OF SHAT …As they never experienced those hardships they claim to associate with the word nigger ,And It would be nice if the Black generation ages 15-35 would stop capitalizing on hardships they never experienced themselves to justify their way of life .
I don’t think Comedians like Crhis rock …Martin Lawrence…And Dave Chappelle would even have a routine much less a career if they removed the Racial stereo type jokes ,And Racial slurs from their acts .But no one is calling these comedians racist …Yet by your definition of why it’s ok for a black to say the -N- word it would be equally wrong for these comedians to use stereo typical white jokes and racial slurs regarding the white race in their routines ,as they aren’t white .
But I guess you would say it’s ok for them to do so ,because their jokes were “FUNNY” and got a laugh …from a mainy Black audience …If Martin Lawrence …Chris Rock…Or Dave Chappelle were to be heckled by whit guy in their audience …And anyone of them went off the handle spewing Racial slurs like CRACKER…and HONKEY …Would everyone be all up in arms shouting …HE’s a RACIST …And thast’s the end of his career … NO !
Michael Richards seems like an asshole in that clip, but I will never understand why certain words have become taboos.
Yes, words sometimes lead to violence, but the world is filled with ill intent and we can’t and don’t censor all of it. You can go to jail in many european countries if you say that the holocaust didn’t happen, but not if you say that Stalins prison camps didn’t kill more than Hitlers did. You become a social pariah if you say ‘nigger’ or 'wetback, but not if you say ‘cracker’ or ‘white boy’.
Wasn’t there just some nut on C-SPAN telling that all white people should be killed? I don’t really care if he said it. He can go into further details if he wants to. That is his freedom. And so it is the freedom of every crackpot national socialist to describe their desire for a new holocaust.
The worst disservice we can do to ourselves is to hide the ‘ugly’ beliefs of mankind. When they are swept under the rug, they just fester. You can’t discredit a belief by just closing your ears and screaming ‘lalalala!’. We absolutely need open discussion. And that means allowing Michael Richards to scream ‘nigger’ all he wants. And countering that with reason and not just with a general label like ‘racist’ and being done with it.
This discussion in American History X summed it up pretty nicely:
Bob Sweeney: There was a moment… when I used to blame everything and everyone… for all the pain and suffering and vile things that happened to me, that I saw happen to my people. Used to blame everybody. Blamed white people, blamed society, blamed God. I didn’t get no answers 'cause I was asking the wrong questions. You have to ask the right questions.
Derek Vinyard: Like what?
Bob Sweeney: Has anything you’ve done made your life better?

The answer is the word COMPLEX in big flashing neon lights.
I don’t think that a racial preference for sex is reflective of surface racism, in the way that calling someone a nigger is. I think it CAN be reflective of “racial issues” that are below the surface. Most people with a racial preferance say, “well thats just the way I am,” and that may very well be the case.
I do think the question of “why?” is important. It is certainly something I struggle with. I am a white man and I am only really ATTRACTED to white women. I can find women of other backgrounds GOOD LOOKING, I am just not really attracted to them. My money personally is on my racist programming as a white canadian and thats something I need to deal with.
All that ranting is just my opinion. I haven’t seen anything like a consensus on this issue but a lot people seem to think it is a manifestation of the racial descrimination issues EVERYONE has.
I hope that helped.
