My situation isn’t too bad (yet) but I’ve noticed it starting to get thinner and I want to prevent it from getting any worse if possible. My understanding is that Propecia works by fucking with your androgens, which I assume that most of us, including me would consider to be a greater evil than hair loss. Anyone here ever tried it tho and how did it effect your lifestyle?

There must be like a million different hair re growth products out there maybe try something else? If you relly feel the need you could get hair transplant… Or just shave it all and rock the shaved head look… Women don’t care much about hair loss its only the insecurity around it that turns them off… Not implying thats why you are doing it though.
Shave it man. Started losing my hair at 16, totally shaved it, never looked back.
Don’t use it. I used it when i was about 18. I got a prescription from a Doctor and my hair loss stopped but I got depressed after a few months. And then I tried other things to get rid of the depression…
After about 8-10 months I stopped using Propecia and the hair loss got even worse so I decided to cut my hair to 4mm…one of the best decisions Ive ever made.
Don’t fucking listen to the people that say shave it…(unless you want to shave it) I’ve heard the same thing about propecia as you have and to me those side effects are much worse than being bald.
But I am 27 and like you I am starting to notice that my hair is getting significantly thinner than it was. So I too am looking for ways to prevent/delay hairloss. Unfortunately at this point I can’t afford anything drastic other than some hair thickening shampoo and coconut oil.
BTW a couple of years ago my buddy, who was seriously balding, started doing these laser rejuvination sessions. Coupled with some really expensive hair thickening shampoo. And it actually fucking worked, now, he didn’t go back to having thick hair like he had when he was a teenager but it did look significantly better. The only problem was that he had to go twice a week for like 2 years then do maintnence sessions which would be like 1 every 2-3 weeks for a couple years and then gradually get off of it. And I think eventually he just couldn’t keep up with the sessions and the money. It was expensive from what I remember. But he’s the only person that I know of that it actually worked.
So I guess my answer to you is the same that I tell myself. Eat right, try to reduce stress, buy good products for your har and when you can afford it get the laser treatment.
The regaine or rogaine in USA worked a bit but not completely. Apparrently if you catch it really early it can work for some people. Plus I kept getting in my eyes. I don’t shave my hair but try to keep it short.
If it had side -effects I certainly didn’t notice any.
Tried it, worst side effects I’ve ever experienced from any Rx drug. Depression and complete lack of energy, even at a low dose. Nipples also got puffy after 2 weeks.
I’d rather go bald than feel like that again. I would strongly advise against it.

Or buy a Wahl clippers at Wal Mart for $20 and shave it.

Lol
Its kind of cool if you shoot lasers out of your eyes, however getting lasers shot at your head that mostly dont work and that you now drive a POS car cause you spent all your money on those laser treatments, not so much.
OP,
As of right now there is no cure for going bald. There are certain “treatments” that can delay the process but what’s the point?
It’s not like you’re going to put it off by 20 years, you’re just going to look like your balding slower for a longer period of time.
When it gets bad and the balding is pretty noticeable just shave it. If you embrace the shave, not wearing hats all the time and trying to hide it, then you’re good. Just own it, rock it and have self confidence.
Keys to looking good bald:
- Have muscles - seriously, get in the gym and get a decent build (shouldn’t be an issue considering this site)
- Have a tan- bald and tan? Awesome. Bald and pasty? Mmmmm not so much.
- Grow some sort of facial hair- beard, stubble, goatee, bad ass mustache (my personal fave)
- DGAF- seriously. This ones probably the most important. Self confidence > full head of hair (well in this case it would be a balding he’s of hair but still)

Agreed x100. If you’re telling people “I have a friend who did some dumb shit, but I don’t have enough cash right now to do shit quite as dumb as he does…” , no amount of lasers is going to fix that… Shave your head and open an IRA with the rest of the cash. In 20 years you’ll thank me.

Hahhahahaahhahahahahhaa sorry just cracks me up telling a mid 20’s guy to open an IRA.
Chances are it will be spent on a new Mustang/Muscle car of choice to get laid.
But I agree why waste a shit ton of money on your hair?

I tried Rogaine and since I’m only in the early stages of hair loss, my hair is still too thick for me to use it effectively. It just gets absorbed in my hair and ends up as hair gel instead of reaching my scalp.
If you don’t want to just start shaving it have you tried talking to a dermatologist? They might be able to guide you easier and find a safe means of restoring hair and stopping hair loss.
I think my hair may be thinning… if it comes to shaving it all off, I’m still fucked. Big forehead, big head in general, and a buttcrack on my skull to top it off. Niiiice
My hair is thinning in the front and on the typically spot on top near the back. I tried shaving my head all the way down once and my head has such a funky shape to it. The top of my head has like a bump in the middle and it looks totally stupid. Some guys pull off the shaved head look very well, some don’t. I’m just using nioxin right now and my barber says he has noticed my hair looks thicker and healthier.
My advice, just find a good shampoo that helps out and keep growing your hair while you still have it. It’s all personal preference, so do whatever you think looks best for yourself.
