KMc's Robs Eric Cressey

KMC,

Happy belated birthday and congratulations (also just catching up).

yeah, we had the eddie bauer hemi stroller lift conquest vehicle. I think it cost $10,000.

Get one where baby part detaches and re-attaches to the car-seat base. this will save you piles of time and energy during the first year. You get a think like a detachable baby-pod with handle, plus the stoller that it locks on to, plus the car seat base that it locks on to.

or you can get a sled, put Jr in it and drag her/him around manhattan.

KMC- Dude, congrats.

I way behind. Just caught up with you and PeteS on the ‘expecting’ list. The SteelyD’s have #3 on the way, too.

Hyper-hormonal women. Yay…

thanks people, and Congrats to you too steelyD, ps you too PeteS

there is def something in the air

couldn’t train for a few days flu and busy days at work.

back today with deadlifts.

So far I am playing it safe and sleeping on the couch as much as possible, and letting her get naps on the weekends. She was pretty nice to me this weekend, so it must be working.

well the emotional rollercoaster ride here has been pretty minimal,
the wife has a stressful job, but who doesnt?
the dr’s office, tests and procedures, do freak her out the real thing is our 13 year old dog
whom has had no competition who is staging her own mini freak outs.

training*********

Notes
still feeling some kind of flu thing-

during the OH squats even on 135 something still is hurting in my upper abs-
pulls- 330 felt heavy and left me ready to puke.
RDL’s felt spent going into these.
OH press felt good

wanted to do krocs - but knew Id puke.
wanted to do hanging leg raises, but knew it would hurt the upper abs…

thanks for looking

That is some pretty hard training for being under the weather. I hope you feel better soon.

nice way to soldier through. My dogs were both extrememly protective and a bit heartbroken when my son was born. My St. Bernard, which was orignally the wifes dog, moped quite a bit. But she is absolutely wonderful with the lad now. Gets him messy, though.

nice deads! getting the feel for the high rep stuff?

Ditto on what Solodog said, nice job on the deads. My back is sore just seeing you did Sumo RDLs after the deads,

thanks people…

High rep deads are pukeriffic, I cant wait to try some high rep squats.

Great job on the deads and the rest of it. I have basically dropped all assistance work on dead day except for the BBB set. My lower back is just too freaking torched after words.

Thanks Jack.

I want to move to BBB for squats- I like how you use the front squat 5x10.
Squat is the only movement I think I can train multiple times a week,
not so much for pressing or pulling.
the trimuvirate works for me for deads or bench its how I trained befoer 531.

A day of BS + cardio

30 minutes moderate cardio on the arc trainer
if you crank this thing up it gets hard enough.

hanging leg raises 4x10
need to do these everyday so good for the back.

power cleans to get the blood moving
95x5,135x3x3, 155 3x, 175 2x2
185x2, 205x2

15 minute swim.
thats it.

KM- I was online client of Cressey’s. Have you worked with him or done his stuff? For me, he was huge help. I had shoulder issues ( basically couldn’t do any pressing movements without pain) that after following his protocol vanished in about 12 weeks. heck, I can do weighted dips again!! His programs are tough: at least I thought so.

Old Goat… thanks for stopping by,
I was “robbing” Eric Cressey, in that I did his maximum strength routine for 4 months,
had some great gains.

I wish I could work with him, I really like his work.
I am a huge fan/nuthugger of his approach , his mobility work etc.

If you have the time you can scroll back and read through my log,
but Ill give you the nutshell

in 4 months Max Strength , I gained 50 lbs on my squat to 405, 20 or so on my dead to 435, some other progress
on things like shoulder stability.

Its pitiful we clean the same weights and I’m about 100lbs heavier then you. Great work.

KMC, what is the best way to learn to powerclean or is form not that important (since your not competing) and one should just do it?

Thanks Eco… chitown…

I learned the o-lifts in college and I am OK at best with them.
Im sure my form is crap even though I used to do them allot.

the best thing to do is have someone teach you how to do them
the next best thing is to watch some vids,
use low weights and practice getting under the bar.
really getting under the bar is the hard part

starting from the hang position seems to make it easier
without getting into the 2nd pull business

as the bar is rising you need to be changing levels to get under the bar.

on another note I am offically a gear whore!!!

my inzer wrist wraps and belt arrived this morning.
I got the econo belt , its stiff as hell, and strangely double prong.

So have you been doing all your squats beltless until this point?

I would consider exchanging for a single prong version. Some people are into the double prong, but I find it uncomfortable. I have one double prong belt that has stayed in the closet since my first squat session with it. I finished my last heavy set, and couldn’t get the second prong out. Made me kinda panicky…

Please note no double entendre or lewdness intended, but have fun with that paragraph is you must.

Maybe some of the other wordsmiths will take up the cause of your words…
out of respect for the proper use of double entendre Ill pass

Yes Beltless

Ive been roughing it without the belt, I tried it on today, and can imagine the double prongs getting silly. Well see how it goes, I’m super tempted to squat today, but should bench today, and Squat Friday.
