KMc's Robs Eric Cressey

ok first some thanks, thanks for reading when I did not even train.

thanks people!!!

JImmyT!!! thanks man.

Give 63 a 'how you doing from me" glad you the crew and your family are well
at the new place…

Joe, replied in your thread- stretches for hams and groin for football,
one word.

Drefranco.

MJ Yes this happened to be a bit of a bad show but a decent gig- played with some friends.

Here is what can make a "good’ show,

the obvious.
Money. I do this for cash. Not art.

Being Paid quickly 60 days net is now pretty common with bigger gigs.

working with people who respect me, and don’t really abuse us/me.
If let alone most producers would work us 18 hours and scoff at meal breaks.

the less obvious

doing something out of the ordinary- either more technical or different enough to keep me into it.
working with a super talented DP or shooter will keep me hooked.

content- good content goes along long way.
Sesame street If it paid only a little more- I would still be there, best show to work on ever.
Ever.

working with friends etc
and I do get some satisfaction from busting my ass for someone whom appreciates it.

this show however lucrative- it became a solid week of 12 to 14 hour days-
is a talk show- with a minor celebrity formerly a super model.
you can do the math.

lastly I saw this article this is the shit.

barbel bulgarian splits.
on the list.

Yah,yah, yah. I’m ALMOST sold on the single leg stuff. If my left leg keeps outrunning my right the way it has been, I’ll be forced to do them.

Ok this one is about training.

went to the gym there is a big dude in the squat rack pulling…
belt
chalk!!

275x10,315x6,
me those looked good, chalk!
dude spasiba! you want in? I realize he is russian.
Me no, front squats
Him 3 more.

365x2,
405x2
450x 1
me nice job.
Him Spasiba! . and helps me rack up.
we talk about pulling a little I say I am low 400’s he asks do I rack pull,
Im like yeah… he is like I want to bring chains.
me Chains would be the shit.
Him yes chains the shits.

I realized watching him pull, that I keep my shoulders WAY over the bar- like a first pull for a snatch or clean.
dude sat much further back then I can- and his speed was super fast, it snapped off the floor-
the only time I pull that fast is snatch grip.
hmmmmmmmmm

need to work on that.

8.4.09
mobility, foam, mobility, dislocates, a ton of hip shit.
It band shit.
OH squat 135x10

A andersons from pins- moved the pin up stood on 25 plates 5@ >90%

135 x4, 225x1, 245x1,265x1,265x1,245x1,245x1,225x1

B BB reverse lunges front squat rack- 135 3x8 both sides.

C speed pulls 8x1 @60%
275 x 8x1

D pull down abs.
Heavy 3 x10.

Notes.

first day in like a week, so starting this part of the cycle over,
Andersons 245 the first rep flew up- so 265 . I guess its a PR.
second single at 265 had me turned purple… and seeing blackness. awesome.

reverse lunges, did these next - protocol has them last - I really like these.

speed pulls- after watching my russian friend- pull- he sat way way back, bar in front of the shoulders,
I spent some time on my set up- found out if I hook grip I tend to have the shoulders forward.
sitting back feels unnatural but had much better ability to push with the legs,
need to work on finding the best way or most organic way.

thanks for reading…

Glad you found a lifting comrade. The single leg training is something I probly need to do more of.

I am now trying the single leg stuff, I think my back issues might have to do with strength imbalances in my legs. I have injured my left leg so many times I know I favor it, and this makes for my right side taking on a lot more pressure when squatting an pulling.

I’m so pleased to see that you are making new friends.

I have the opposite problem to you. I have too many friends and have to start killing them.

Seriously, I’ve been pulling for so long that my cleans start off like deadlifts. I only recently realised I was doing this and once I focused on pulling up instead of back, they became much nicer for me. I still have tons of work to do on them though. Chief among the things to work on is to get idiots from stepping over or near the bar when I’m about to clean it.

Nail one of them, loudly, and get pictures. After about 3 of them word will get around.

tru dat.

Next time you see your new friend, throw your hands in the air, and say

" Ne Strel-yai, oo menya voyennikh sekryet!" See if he laughs. It means “don’t shoot, I have military secrets”

If she nails them won’t she have more people wanting to be friends?

Nice session Kevin.

I KNEW I should have been more specific for you gutter-minded literalists.

Nail them with the BAR.

DCA, you need to be more careful…

I love training with Russians. Seriously, I encounter them in gyms around the country and just that damned accent makes me want to train harder. Maybe it is because of coming of age in the Cold War era, or whatnot.

My God! They’ve got a sub off the coast of Georgia, our Georgia, not Europe’s, right now. The Cold War’s starting again. Duck and cover. Better dead than red. They stole the damn basketball game but we kicked their ass in hockey. They’ll never replace my JD with Vodka and flouride is a mind altering drug they’ve put in our water. Where’s Sen Joe McCarthy when we need him. Power up the dew line cause they’ll come over the pole and get our Canadian brothers and sisters first. DEFCON 1, SAC cranking up the BUFFs, Massive retaliation, First Strike, all silos blow doors…
Sorry, they said there’d be flashbacks of the good old days. Sounds like you’ve got a good lifting partner and comrad there.

Hey thanks people…

No training today- making some television instead, will get in Thursday and Friday.

I was so hyped up to train- and strangely he was super hyped when I was watching him pull and
yelling support is cool. Even the trainers at the YMCA are supportive of efforts.

Comrad also checked out the OH squats and the andersons in a more critical way then the what is
that WTF is that clown doing of way.

Like Pete I LOVE to train with the russians- the old gym I went to- the super basement Hardcore gym in Brooklyn had a group of eastern bloc types who rocked it out all the time.
I got to do some greco Roman wrestling with them back in the day too very very serious about sports.

Ill see when comrad lifts- I want to be he is westiside or some other cool shit.

Ditto!
Hey that russian dude is on the money it is the speed of execution on your lift. That will bring the big numbers.

Enjoy your vacation…and eat big.
