KM'c Black Irish Bastid 3.0

I love the little nuggets of info you leave in between the lines.

Kent- thanks man- you can geek out with some over due vids.

MinM- I like that- that’s funny- hope your kicking ass

yep that cold laid me out felt like crap all weekend
laid low and PVC roled the bejesus out of my right rectus femoris
thinking that is the problem or part of it

training-

1/2 hour pvc this morning
moblity both at home

treadmill walk 10 mins incline
tons of moblity skips hops lunges etc
tons and tons of TKE

BB complex bo row, RDL jump shrug, high pull
135 3x5

A Snatch grip high pulls
185 3x3,225 3x3
B Snatch grip Deadlift
225x5,275 2x3 315 3x3,405x1
C Trap bar dead
315x5,405 5x4
D clean grip BB reverse lunge
135 4x8
E Dimmel deadlift
135 2x20
F1 pull down abs
F2 back raise + 10lbs 4x10-12 for both

more TKE

Notes-
this was a good lower day
haven’t pulled 405 snatch grip in a while-
wanted dbles took the one sigle
barely locked it out.

right knee is feeling good yay.
added some trap bar crap in for some leg volume
these are goofy- the low bar is lower then a regular bar
the high bar is kinda high.

reverse lunges felt great
Loving how the TKE and tiny step ups seem to be working
hating not squatting.

in the vids you can see my neck turn to the side-
not good needs work
and you can see I loose it a little during some reps
the bar bounces all over

thanks for reading.

last set of 315 triples
315x3 sn grip last - YouTube

405 single

trap crap

Thats a hell of session, happy the knee held up. I gotta try the snatch grip when I do highpulls, I just started doing high pulls, kind of like em, I pretend Im a Oly lifter lol! That SG 405 DL looked smooth

Nice!

I just started looking for a trap bar. I like the idea of having the option to get lower body work in without loading the spine.

LOL. If I’m not mistaken, I think you got a “WTF!” look from the big dude(s) on your 405. Nicely done.

You’re right! They do look pretty boggled.

And on the trap bar, I can just hear the guy saying, “Hey, mind if I stand in front of your camera?”

Matty thanks man- I have pulled 425 for a dbl like last year want to get back towards that
I pretend Im an o-lifter too!!

Git- thanks! I Like trap bar work - exactly to deload the spine ( and lower back)

PG- yeah I am used to it at that gym
what is crazy is BOTH those big guys where doing decent pullups
Ok big big guy did like 3 but still

cav- thanks for popping in- I think they might have been surprised a little

Glad to drop by, KM.

Interesting, the big guys in my gym do chinups or pullups, they can bench like crazy but pulling is a bear.

This is a fun log, I like it here

That 405 looked easy :stuck_out_tongue:

Watched the 405 video on my phone before, must say that was so much better on a real screen. Well done! Still wanting a trap bar, they’re just too pricey for me.

they were totally impressed. i should have a go with the trap bar. is it really easier on the lower back? sounds good. i keep forgetting to do snatch pulls… must write it down to do them because i think i conveniently forget. need to compile a list of stuff for my legs that is easy on the lower back. nice work.

thnaks fro all the love people
sore as fug today!
think the Dimmels kicked my ass.

Cav- the bigger guy was well over 300

Hey Rhonda pop in any time and thank you!!

Dday thank you

Lexie thank you

my 2 cents on trap bar- they are kinda cool
Git mentioned it, its a good way to hit legs with out loading the spine
and they are a little easier on the lower back

there are a few things with them -
if you are a big or very strong person you are going to run out of plate room
they handles can be a mismatch- the lower ones too low the high ones too high

and mechanics PeteS mentioned it - its easy to just squat the weight up
and not push your hips through like a normal deadlift

The trap bar looks cool, think I tried one years ago.

We have one big guy in my gym, don’t know how much he weighs. He has arms bigger than my legs, can bench over 400 for reps. He also does loads of what he calls “chinup stuff”, sadly is carrying a big waist, has to hop off benches or use the assistance machine, but he never gives up.

Lots of catching up to do.

An 8ft x 4ft blackboard? Surely that’s 50% of the wall space in your apartment? LOL

Ooops! we’re supposed to say “chalk” board here now (UK). Blackboard is racist.

^^^ Done these myself. 4 minutes of pure hell!! (but good)

Nice variety of work in here as always Kevin.

Snatch grip deads looked great too. I wish I had your grip strength.

Cav- good on him for trying.

I like when big guys use the BW argument about doing pullups-
that little people ‘can do them cause they are little’
I know its cause they cant do them.

FB- thank you Brett- grip strength is probably all I have, wrestling and Judo took care of it for me.

ahhh the housing situation. a quick synopsis

lived in a 387 sq foot apartment for close to ten years
and have been out of room for 9.5 of those years
two people + one cranky border terrier

almost 6 years ago we bought a 130+ y.o. small house on just under two acres as a ‘weekend’ home
but its two and a half hours away from NYC
almost 2 years ago we had a baby yay.
but now we own two places we cant really live. not so yay.

so… we left NYC and rent a small apartment
in weschester county- 35 mins from the City via commuter train

and we rent out the small apartment we own
( which secured us the mortgage for the weekend house)
see its complicated.
so the weekend house is where you see me with the wheel barrow , bee keeping etc
cause a 4x8’ anything in the apartment would be more then half of it.

as for calling things black or blacks- in theater the soft goods are often refered to as ‘blacks’
the big 40’ tall black velvet looking drapes- we shouldn’t call them blacks anymore either.

Zpress as an accessory fried my shoulders and tris

Loaded pullups kept the reps short too- to save elbows

the rope pulldown row thing is from defranco -

Solid work KMC.
The rope pull down thing looks promising. Kayak rows hit my lats harder than almost anything, will try the rope thing too. Thanks for sharing that.

I’m cheering for “enough sleep and food”!

my head esploded from the cuteness of Dad and Rowan pic

deads looked impressive as hell.

387 square feet for a family is freakin small. I’ll stop complaining about my 850 (for 2).

deads video will happen when I get back from my business trip.

PeteS thank you.
there is ALLOT to be said for someone that large knocking out pullups.

Dday- thanks man- Fishcer incidentally does something similar I just noticed
its a HUGE swole athon the pulldown rope thingy

Kimba!!
thanks for the visit!!!
I am finding this food thing does seem to work.
hmmm

Frenchie
he is too cute sometimes…

here he is texting PeteS kids about training
and rocking his Dunks
you can see Nanny in the background
It hurts to pay someone to watch your kid - but she is so awesome.
and very very special.

he is bucking for heavyweight greco.

neck felt super super good today

wore a knee sleeve and lifting shoes - did one or two sets of OH squat in socks

BOX SQUATS - does this mean I can squat again?
maybe
maybe not
maybe go fuck myself

thinking I can do these once a 3 or 4 week cycle just for speed.

2nd set of 5 @ 225 things felt right- sitting back ok staying tighter popping up faster
275 felt ok - thought I could manage more.
think I threw on a belt during 275
these need work just want to reinforce some good movement and good speed.
and not really worry about weights- will use front squats zerchers and front squats from pins.

speed pulls these got tiring

thanks for reading.
