Klokov and Akkayev Withdraw

F@CK is all i can say

the Akkaev story with the injury I can buy. The Klokov story… my idea is if he competed and got tested he would get popped.

Yeah Andy that’s what I’m thinking.

I wonder how the testing results are going to go after the games. Are they going to wait to announce any positives?

uhuh

Aramnau, Klokov and Akkayev. FML.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Frick. Been waiting so long to see this. It’s like finding out AJ Lee isn’t going to marry Brian Daniels.

Wow, I was looking forward to Klokov lift. This sucks.

WAR Torokthtiy!

I’m going to root for Patches because he always fights to the end, but I’d like to see Dolega nail some big lifts just to prove he’s a worthy winner. I don’t think it will be a bad class just because AAK are missing. Most of the B sessions have been better than the As.

It’s pretty sad that Dolega will win without any opponent ;( he would beat them all and breaking records, unfortunately his only opponent will be himself and records ;(

worst 105’s ever. ilin could’ve earned himself another medal.

The 105s were a total shambles!! The 94s were great! What happened to the judges in the 105s, that Iranian guy had 2 NO LIFTS and they let him off. Worst judging I have seen in an Olympic final. What did someone who was there think (Koing??).

The 105s were a shambles. So many missed lifts.

I’ll be curious if there is any hard confirmation of Akkaev’s surgery. The best explanation for Klokov’s sudden withdrawal does seem to be Russian fear that he would fail a doping test. And if Akkaev was in London training and moving about as normal right up until his surgery, that has to raise eyebrows, too. We’ll see if more details are forthcoming.

I was there and suffered the progressive heartbreak of losing aramnau to later be followed by akkaev and klokov. I’d already been in London for other events and got a message from my friend saying akkaev and klokov were out (immediately felt sick to my stomach lol).

I bought pretty expensive tickets which I may not have spent on the -105s if I knew this was going to happen.

All of that said, I still had an awesome time. Sat with a bunch of polish guys so took to supporting Bonk (Specially when Dolega bombed)

Didn’t think the Judging was all that bad.

My friend has a load of photos from the event which I may post when I get a copy if anyone is interested

Please do, and glad you had a good time! Never made it to an Olympics although I was in Munich in '72 but that was a sad different time.
When I went to meets long ago they still had the “Press” as well as the snatch and C&J!!
