Kirill Sarychev Highest Raw Total Ever?

Who else is close right now? Josh Bryant has several other guys benching in the 600s but Maddox has the biggest bench at the moment.

Maybe close is an exaggeration. On the way more like.

James Strickland was planning 677 at BOBIV in August but it wasn’t a good day for him. He’s come leaps and bounds, fast too, just like Maddox. Aims to be the lightest man to bench 700

I can see James Strickland benching 700 in the near future, he’s also moving up a weight class in case you didn’t hear. But considering where he is right now and Kirill’s record, he’s not going to set the SHW record any time soon. Maddox is benching 688 on a bad day, he had some technical issues on the 705 attempt and apparently he had to wait a long time between attempts as well. Under ideal circumstances (which are never guaranteed, of course) I’m quite sure he could already bench over 700.

On the way up he can take Hoornstra’s records and Mendelson’s 701 in the 305s.

Speaking of: what’s Hoornstra doing these days? Have the general impression he got injured or something a while back but there’s vids of him popping up here and there benching 600+

Maybe it’s just from watching too much of Josh Bryant’s benchers but seems there is a surge in close (ish) grip benchers coming up e.g. Maddox and Strickland. They are big dudes and benching max legal grip width would be like a shorter limbed person benching close but here they are inside the rings.

IMO close-ish grip benching gets a bad rap for moving less weight but IMO is just a matter of ROM v Leverages. Both work evidently but there’s a lot of people push to go wider.

Between close and wide grip the sticking point doesn’t really change much: still between off the chest to the midway transition kinda point i.e. the bottom half of the movement. Maybe moves up by an inch or two with CGB.

Decent benchers don’t fail in the upper half unless it’s legit 99% 1RM or someshit and they just manage to overcome the sticking point but have no momentum/speed left to finish off the lift.

Saw on instagram earlier today he pulled 881 for an easy single and benched 440 for 18 afterwards. Man has no limit

Wow that’s fuckin ridiculous!

Think he was putting together a WRPF Bench Press for Max Reps @ 200kg/440lb thingy:

1st Place Sarychev, 18 Reps
2nd Place Some Russian Dude, 1 Rep
3rd Place Me, 0 Reps

Made some gains since this:

Training deadlift and bench footage with Hafthor Bjornsson and Kirill Sarychev. No english subs but Hafthor is speaking english and Sarychev isn’t half bad at the language.

How much for lesson from Sarychev

So Sheiko programs in cardio or AMRAPS?

WTF, he, according to me, is training according to himself, he is only holding the basic principles…

Think Thor could beat his PL total? I think he has a higher squat/DL and bench should not be that huge of a difference, nothing the other 2 wouldn’t make up for.

I’ve never seen Thor do a max attempt PL style deadlift. You can’t roll It, no straps, no hitching.

It’s a completely different lift.

Honestly I’m unsure of Hafthor’s exact best lifts off the top of my head tho obviously they’d be pretty big. Best we can do is compare under as similar conditions as possible.

In the meet at the beginning of the thread we see Sarychev go full power meet, Raw with Knee Sleeves, comp equipment/rules (comp pause bench, monolift, DL bar etc.) at 793/705/887 lbs or 360/320/402.5 kg for a 1082.5kg / 2386 lbs total.

Hafthor made tremendous gains in his power lifts this year and we really saw it all culminate in the deadlift event at the Arnold. Browsing his Instagram this is what I got (pls correct me if I’ve missed something):

Squat: 440 kg/970 lb. Done in knee wraps, gym lift (depth looked good enough tho lel) and squat only i.e. without consideration to saving energy/maintaining psychological arousal for the following comp lifts. How much knee wraps add is a bit iffy maybe 15-20% on your raw numbers. So that smacks Thor’s squat number pretty hard but we’ll go easy on him and say some XS SBD knee sleeves buff him up to a 400kg / 881lb squat raw

Bench Bit harder for this one cos Thor hasnt hit heavy singles nvm maxing out. Apparently theres a 227.5kg / 500 lb 2x2 (not sure if comp paused or nah) but there’s no footage of it. There’s an eas-ish 200/440 x 5 touch and go and an easy 210/460 x 3 paused. Scroll a bit further back there’s 200/440 x 10 TNG. Also a bunch of massive incline presses.

So it’s hard to call but at the peak of his powers (pun intended) I’d put Thor down for a 260kg / 573 lbs comp bench when fresh. Once again in a comp he wouldn’t be fresh nor would he go all out on bench and take away from his deadlifting.

Deadlift This ones a bit awkward cos Thor has pulled some big numbers on Elephant bars and such but for the sake of comparison we’ll not use those. Other considerations are as per the other lifts and also equipments considerations like the use of deadlift suits or the use of straps (the figure of 8 straps being particularly good shit for adding poundage). I see 390kg x 5, 410kg x 2 etc. so I’m gonna say Thor has got a 430-440kg / 970 lb comp DL in him when fresh.

???

Sooooooooo. A guesstimated total for Thor would be 400/260/440 - 1100kg total (vs a 1082.5kg total). So actually it’s a bit more than Sarychev’s total but given the demands of a PL competition I think our guesstimation would end up being an overestimation. So no, IMO, at this time, peak Thor doesn’t out total peak Sarychev’s from years ago.

Since when can you not roll a deadlift bar?

What would a guestimate for Eddie Hall look like?
