God damn, trained in MMA or not he is an intimidating mofo to be standing across the ring from!!

Apparently Kimbo has been training with Randy and Bas at Legends gym, and Bas will be his corner for the fight. Here’s what Bas had to say about Kimbo over at Sherdog:
OK guys, I have to say something here.
I am training Kimbo right now, and I have to say that he is one of the BEST fighters I have EVER trained. …!![/quote]
Every time a coach says this about a new guy in any sport the guy is never ready and sucks.
Didn’t BJ Penn rave about how much Joe Louzon (sp?) learned and how he was a future world champion right before he went out and got owned by Manny Gamburian?

Lauzon did TKO Pulver, so Penn and many others in the house did have reasonable confidence that Lauzon would go far.

Not saying he is a bad fighter, it is just when a coach starts bragging how much a guy is learning it seems to be the kiss of death.
For everyone ragging on Mercer about quitting 15 seconds into the fight… I would love to see you take a shot like that and still even be standing. I think that kick would bring down most people.
I doubt Kimbo has faced anyone who hits as hard as Mercer so I think it should be an interesting fight. I’d like to see it all stand up since thats what they are both used to.

Agreed. I want to see someone who isn’t 30lb overweight and who didn’t just get out of rehab knock Kimbo senseless standing up.
I wonder if Kimbo is going to have to shave his beard for the fight. That bird’s nest probably absorbs some energy from punches.

You should probably expect world peace then because there is NO WAY IN HELL that Mercer hasn’t been busting his ass on the ground almost exclusively for an MMA fight since he just needs to maintain his standup if not completely ignore it and be half as good.
You highly, highly, HIGHLY overestimate Mercer’s desire at this point. He’s 50 years old, out of shape, and desperately in need of money. Just watch his K-1 fight up above. You think Ray is pumped up enough for this to train at all? I would be surprised if he’s even been to an MMA gym.

I don’t know his situation about $, but I assume if he wants to fight again for more $, he wouldn’t come to lose. I honestly don’t know much about the professional fighting community, but I just can’t comprehend a fighter to be willing to embarrass himself in front of the world at his profession.
The fight is tomorrow, right? I just wanted to add that Kimbo has the beard to end all beards.
What the hell was that kick by Remy ? It wasn’t even hard . It must have hit a nerve or something . Anybody know ?

I don’t know but a guy going into a kickboxing match wearing boxing shoes and choosing not to through kicks instead just treated it as a boxing match and assumed his hands would carry him to victory…either egotistical or stupid or hey both. Plus he looked terribly out of shape I take it it’s more of a drive for money than glory.
Add 3 years onto that kickboxing bout (46 now) and we have people that think that Mercer is the actual favorite? I hightly doubt from closer view that Mercer will take this, I think Kimbo’s camp will tell him to take Mercer down, and if I take it that Mercer has down no take down or ground training it won’t be hard for Kimbo who is also much more physically opposing.
Kimbo Slice wins by guillotine choke submission in round 1.
OMG!!!
Kimbo was throwing knees and working in the clinch.
