Kimbo Slice on TUF 10

sigh

Anderson Silva is Brazillian.

Rashad, Rampage, and Kimbo are called African AMerican. Although I think Kimbo is mixed with something else

Trust, we wish we could claim Anderson.

But I mean the stereotypical way African Americans can act at times on TV. It’s irritating, since I am also black that people are in awe that I don’t “pop Cristal, wear $200 sneakers, or bump Tupac every day.” I mean yes granted, I live in LaLa land, but I was born and raised in Alaska. Black people are more than just hip hop slang.

And Rampage and Rashad, can be a bit much at times. Their great athletes, but they don’t always have the best attitudes. But oh well, at least they are true to who they are. Belt or no belt, I respect the way a fighter carries himself.

Hence my favorite fighters are GSP, Anderson, Ken Flo, Jon Jones, etc. I hope that clarifies my statement and avoids any further tangents.

Oh, and Anderson will be the best in the world when he beats Lyoto.

Brazilian huh, yeah thats tru but he is still black just like haitians jamaicans and somalians and you didnt say african american you said black. And for the record the term african american needs to go away because your not from africa as most “african americans” arent. My ancestors came from europe but im not europian american im just fucking american.Im white your black end of story.

Another thing, I would rather hangout with Rampage than alot of other people like Nate Diaz.

Ok, not end of story.

How ignorant can you be.

I have actually traced my family tree all the way back to the slavery logs in Georgia. SO I will claim my heritage and ethnic identity the way I see fit.

Because technically according to anthropology we’re all black. Since we’re all from Africa originally.

One of my closest friends is born here in Cali, but he is Native American, Irish, and Polish. He claims it all with pride.

If you want to deny your heritage that’s fine but leave the sociological BS at home. My life, my identity, my choice. Any problem you have with that is yours alone. My history is my base, not my explanation for who I am. And when you get pulled over while walking down the street because you ‘fit a description’ tell me then we’re all equal Americans.

Also for the record I am proud of every part of my life. American birth, African heritage, military and ex-con family tree. Every bit. So let’s get of the tangent train and focus on fighters please, thank you.

And if you like Rampage great. I got nothing against him except he tried to bully a friend of mine. The same friend I just described. The same friend who has studied San Soo gung fu and works as a sub for LAPD defense classes. You don’t even want to know what he wanted to do him if there weren’t witnesses. But even he respects him as an athlete, not a person, but an athlete.

Now if you want to get into a sociological discussion or even anthropological one, I’d love it. It’s fun for me. I also do Psychology, Philosophy, and Sports Med. But put it in the right thread. Not this one. This is for fight discussions not your personal ethnic discussions. If I wanted random off-topic comments on fight threads I’d be on sherdog.

So if you really want to have an intelligent discussion PM me. Seriously. But I’m on this thread to discuss MMA and learn from others. Not listen to self righteous comments on ethnicity.

deep breath

You know what forget it, I’m going to go do my Tai Chi and meditate.

if someone else could get this thread back on track, I’d appreciate it.

After using the term “spook” in another thread with no remorse…I would refrain from any discussion of race/ethnicity. Just sayin.

We already had the Famine horseman (swine flu???) Could kimbo be conquest?? 2012???

can Kimbo ride a horse?

I think Kimbo will do well against the TUF crow as these guys aren’t big name fighters. TUF is mostly a marketing tool. Success is not a given. Look at Bisping? Probably the most overrated winner of all time…but he sells fights and that is extremely important. Yeah, you’re going to have some exceptional talent and in the HW division there are a lot of brawlers and knockout artists. The Frank Mir type of heavyweight is the exception, not the norm, AND that is the problem with UFC’s heavyweight division.

If the 100 year old Kimbo can learn to increase his cardio he’ll do fine. His problem is that if he doesn’t knock you out in the first round he’s toast. The MMA vets and TUF fighters who have a chin can rope-a-dope 'ol Kimbo until his punches lack that first round power.

If Kimbo can increase his cardio I really don’t care what other skills he has…he’ll be successful just knocking people out. If he can EVER learn to avoid a takedown and become an “iceman” type fighter he’ll be pretty scary…but he’s old and learning new skills is probably not his best ability. I really don’t know the other fighters and don’t know if any of them have a good chin plus a wrestling background. If so Kimbo may make to the final or semis. If no one on the show has both a good chin and wrestling background Kimbo may just pull off the win…a ratings and financial boom for Dana.

Then it’s a marekting and promotion dream: Lesnar vs Kimbo. Two fighters the average Joe on the street know by name…regardless of talent level.

While we’re talking about fights…Dana needs to put together more superfights. GSP vs Anderson Silva at a catchweight of 180lb. That’s a lot of weight for Silva to lose…but GSP is a cutting machine and probably walks around at 180-85.
