Killing fat cells

Some time ago (many months) there was a discussion about the new topical fat burner project Biotest was working on. A substance was mentioned that “caused fat cells to commit suicide”. Can someone remind me what that substance is?

I think that product is back on the drawing board. Bill Roberts wrote about the details a few months ago here on the forum. Can’t remember the name right now.

Is it the same thing as what Dharkam Greutstein was working on?

Product’s was Alphasol and an ingrediant was supposed to kill fat cells instead of just shrinking them like diet and exercise does. Unfortunately, Bill Roberts said that next to nothing could get across the skin with the current delivery method so it never came out. Don’t know what’s happening with it now.

It didn’t work. If you could get enough
to the fat cells, it would work… but
you can’t do it transdermally, and injection
could not be done in an even manner, I don’t
think.

If you mean, was it Dharkam’s prostaglandin
thing, no.

Bill, does that mean Alphasol is off the drawing board? Or are you guys still working on it?

How potent is this stuff? At full strength with a minimal carrier does it kill every fat cell within x radius from point of contact? Given a measured overlapping injection pattern like those used in gene therapy would it kill the little fuckers all the way down to the muscle and over a wide area? Would there be a toxic release from the dying cells and what happens to the stored fat?

Bill:

Lets say you did have a perfect delivery system. Is this a good idea? What would the possible negative side effects be? I mean mass destruction of fat cells could cause a change in body chemistry no? Also something that kills fat cells…could potentially kill other stuff or atleast do some other harm, yes…no? How does it kill them? I would appreciate your input. Thanks Bill.

At first when I read Bill’s response I thought, yeah what is up with that stuff…more info!!! But after I gave it a second thought, Bill might not want to post the info because then some f—face(DC) will go ahead and make potetially dangerous or non working stuff anyway. If this is the case I don’t want to know.

I don’t want this thread to die. I spent quite a bit of time searching and the only thing I can find that ‘kills’ fat cells is supposedly the hormone Leptin. No info found on the actual action. Anyone got anything?

i’m interesed too lipo…so is there a chance biotest ill release this type of product or is it nixed…bump

OK. I found an article that used the same expression: “causes fat cells to commit suicide”. It was on the subject of Leptin and simply said that when Leptin was injected into the brains of rats it caused fat cells (blah, blah). Now if it were introduced into the brain the brain presumably releases something ‘else’ in response. Now what the hell would that be?

The aforementioned article is from “Endocrinology - Feb '98, p.791”. Anyone have access to the full text?
