I think wear jeans in the gym would violate the general douchebaggery clause of your contract.
Every so often we get a really skinny redneck in his super tight, heavily starched Wrangler jeans and boots come into the gym. You always know that is going to be an interesting hour of witnessing near death experiences.
Working out in jeans or street clothes is pretty goofy. If you don’t have the clothes for the appropriate occasion, you just don’t go or go get them. You don’t see guys wearing jeans to a wedding do you?
I agree it looks goofy but there is a difference between working out in jeans by choice or b/c of necessity. I train 40 minutes away from my home and if I forgot sweats or shoes, there is no way I am driving al the way home to get my shit. Plus I usually train clients right after so there is no time. So you suggest I just skip a work out? That may be acceptable in your routine but not in mine.

It’s a stupid rule to uphold an image. There is nothing on a pair of jeans that is going to hurt anything. We had the same rule when I worked in a gym. Personally, if you want to work out in a wet-suit and a viking helmet, go for it. Who cares? Wear what’s comfortable. But if you are over 25% body fat, please no tank tops or spandex. That’s just common courtesy to all of us.
There’s nothing wrong with jeans or sandals at the gym. Grow up and get over it. Some of us don’t care enough to go buy the latest Abercrombie warm up suits and Air Hurraches. The only time I absolutely cannot wear jeans is when I squat.

ive seen some nasty weight + toes injuries, i cant imagine scene, without a shoe to contain the mess
Yeah I have seen some of that as well. Sandals are out at my gym even though some people try to get away with it.
Shoes dont always prevent stuff though, I broke three toes on my right foot last year while doing bench presses of all things, lmao. I took a 45 off but forgot there was also a 25 on there. It dropped and landed straight on my foot. Dahum, that sh*t still hurts when I think about it.
A must while you do leg presses are socks and cut your nails before a heavy day. Two years ago I was doing leg presses in boots and had forgotten to bring my socks so I said fuck it and went bare foot. My nail on the big toe actually pierced into the front of the boot and I could not take it off without tearing most of it off. I actually had to cut the boot open a bit, haha. I may start a thread on this.

I don’t disagree with you and I know a shoe, if nothing else, would contain the mess. I will also be the first one to say that if your gym doesn’t allow it (sandals, jeans, etc.), don’t do it.
I, however, am very comfortable doing everything except squatting in jeans, and I am comfortable doing many things in sandals as well.
I really could care less what people wear to the gym. If I had to choose, though, I would say the people with expensive, designer gym gear look sillier than people in jeans. I’m not going to buy a gym wardrobe when I have plenty of sweat pants, jeans, and old t-shirts.
I think XXL is the biggest size they have. Your legs should be fine b/c the pants fit really lose and they stretch. Depending on how tall you are, they may not be covering your kicks all the way but who cares about that. Also, wash in cold water.

i mainly need LONG trousers real long, i have a 30 inch waste, are xxl long but tight?
When I used to work in gyms the reason we did not allow jeans was mainly two two reasons.
Rivets things in pockets, hanging from belt loops etc. ruined or could possibly ruin the upholstery.
Jeans do not allow for proper range of motion do to there limited give etc. and because of the binding could cause injuries on some move.
A third lesser reason was because it does not make for a good selling point its not a good image to see a bunch of people wearing street clothes working out in the gym.
We were not dicks about it once in a blue moon if you forgot your stuff we’d either loan you a pair of shorts with the gym logo or let you work out on upper body you could not train legs in jeans. Most people opted for the shorts or just bought their own stuff out of the pro shop.
members forget stuff sometimes and we tried to be cool about it nobody had a problem with it.
We had two exceptions though we had a few Pros that would come in and because of their enormous size sometimes trained in cut offs.
Second exception was this old steel worker he was an old timer in the workout game had arms like bands of steel he was real soft spoken always came in wearing a baseball cap steel toe boots and old green work pants and a t-shirt that looked like it was spray painted on, Funny he had know idea how developed he was or why he used to be real polite and wander around asking everyone what each piece of equipment was good for stuff like that man that old dude was strong too!
If you looking for work out gear, the XXL crazy pants are great. They are long enough and it is like wearing nothing, haha. They stretch if you have big legs and are baggy fit. If your specs are right then I am taller than you and have a bigger waist so you should be good.

Thats why they sign a waiver as part of their contract, haha.
I know what you are saying though. Pretty cool, you have gear for them to wear in those cases. My gym never really has anything for sale and even if they do, it prob wont fit me anyway.

I’ve driven to my gym…realized I don’t have my gym bag, and turned around to go home or go back to work. I came back later that day to get the workout in, in appropriate attire. My thought on this is, it’s whatever works for you. Working out is mostly mental…For me, I couldn’t get a good workout in if I was wearing jeans. It just wouldn’t seem right in my mind. That being said, I could care less what anyone else around me is wearing…so long as it’s not a speed-o or some shit.
At my club it doesn’t really matter if you wear jeans or not. This one guy owned an auto shop, and would come straight from work and lift in his jeans and wifebeater. The thing we will not play with is sandals. No sandals, period. Shoes must be worn, sandals, flip flops, whatever not acceptable at all.

No, I suggest you staple a note to your head with a reminder to pack the bag. My bag is packed and ready to go every night for the next morning and I don’t even train clients. What do your clients say when you show up in jeans and Bruno Mauli’s?
