Keto Diet w/ No Refeeds. Advice?

Well thank you…it has not been easy but its paying off for me.

My 7 day a week KETO will be changing to a 6 day a week KETO and 1 Carb load day. I cant wait!! it will do me some good to boost my metabolism a bit and to refill my glycogen stores it will fill me up a good 10 pounds.

Might seem like a dumb question, but how do you know if you insulin resistant/sensitive?

I would say it goes with how you handle carbs. the more resistant you are, the more a high carb diet will lead to fat tissue.

Could not have said it better myself

new to the forum so first the facts. i’ve been training 14 years and I’m 33. geared for 10. have been as heavy as 280 but have leaned down to 240 over the last 2.5 clean years.

decided to lean down via a keto diet. stats at start:

waist: 37
chest: 49
bis: 19.5
thighs: 28.75
calfs: 20

for the last 5 weeks, i’ve been doing 6 days of 50g carb or less with one refeed. doing classic 5 x5 3 days a week and 1 depletion workout (roughly 20 sets of 20 reps, total body) 2 sessions of cardio, 30 mins, 8.5 inc/3.5 speed

so far:

waist: 34.5
chest: 48
bis: 19
thighs: 26
calfs: 19

here are a few before and afters:

Umm actually after 5-6 weeks of heavy dieting, your hormones are all much lower than they are normally, this includes good fat loss hormones like Testosterone, IGF-1, HGH, ETC… V

But heavy dieting and a keto diet are not necessarily the same thing. The former suggests a massive calorie deficit, in which case yes, certain hormones will be depressed.

However it’s certainly possibly to go keto but be in a calorie surplus.

Also, don’t forget that a keto diet is usually rich in hormone substrate material (cholesterol) so there is not an automatic depression of hormones.

BBB, please tell me the rational of going a keto diet above maintenance. also, you seem to be unaware of the relationship between carbohydrate intake and SHBG (hint: the fewer carbs, the more your free testoserone is bound to SHBG)
