Kelly Branton Tests Positive for PEDs

Fun fact, they said Eddie tested positive after all of the urine samples for that meet had been thrown out.

No drug testing was done on anyone during the particular instance Ed “tested positive”

In an unrealistic world in which money grows on trees, it would be interesting to see the results if they did this with every lifter at the local level.

It seems to me that WADA does have the tools to catch everyone. It’s just a question of 1) dealing with the corruption and politics 2) Pumping the money into this so that WADA can expand their efforts.

No, I was referring to the actual window when they show up to collect. Yes, I would agree that they can show up at any time, even right after collecting a sample, I don’t think passing one test buys one any time for the next collection. My athlete was tested two or three weeks right after a prior test.

The Norris fail I believe is complicated. In a lot of cases, stimulant fails typically are a cover for something else. I suspect that Norris was targeted, possibly someone may have ratted him out. It seemed like they tested him more than others, almost like they knew he was on something but couldn’t prove it so they kept testing him until he popped.

No offense. But stimulants are allowed outside of competition. He should have known well before his comp what he was taken.

Maybe he was trying to cover up for something else? I don’t have any inside knowledge, just know that stimulants are often used to cover up for the usage of other agents.

But what is the point? Nobody cares if the guy in 17th place took steroids, he should be ashamed of himself anyway.

But how can you actually eliminate corruption? Seems impossible.

You mean time of day or what?

Depends which stimulants. Look at the WADA site. Until recently, weed was banned in and out of competition and it would be hard to argue that it would improve performance in any way.

Yes, there’s some wiggle room within reason if they show up and you’re not there as long as you are basically claiming where you’re supposed to be that day, they can grant extra time to receive the sample.

So with regards to the corruption aspect of drug testing, here’s a powerlifting conspiracy theory for you guys. Don’t take this as me calling out Ray Williams as a steroid user and cheater, but this is just something to consider. Keep in mind that he has squatted 1080lbs drug free and in only knee sleeves, the all time untested WR in wraps is Vlad Alhazov with only 77lbs more (1157).

So is having close relatives who are members of a secret society a cause for concern when it comes to possible corruption?

Izzy - powerlifting to win just joined the dark side. Guy looks jacked as fuuuark now.

Spot on. I know at least one guy who’s been on for several years and makes no progress because he fucks up the other aspects of training.

You mean rejoined. He actually talked about prior use on his site. I read that maybe five years ago, don’t know if it’s still there.

It’s not the drugs, it’s alien DNA!

Seriously though, there are other athletes who are way ahead of the pack, never fail a test, and are Masons as well. Like Usain Bolt. Seeing as straight up corruption is pretty much the only way to never test positive, it makes me wonder.

I remember that article, he took steroids and totalled around 1400 but quit after he got busted by the cops and they confiscated his stuff. I thought he was using again a couple years ago because all of a sudden he got way bigger and actually strong for a change too, his lifts were all real weak for a long time and he wasn’t making much progress. He put out some decent info in the past, but he’s not someone I would pay much attention to.

Having a huge, no-neck dad might help more than having a secret society dad.

But I’ll need to see pics of Vlad’s father to judge properly.

Fortunately for Ray, he has both.
