Now i know it essential to keep yyour body guessing and there by doing different workouts and stuff just so your body doesnt fall back and not grow on your training.
But i am currently doing a 5x5 program that i made myself, it looks like this
Day 1
Squat------------------5x5
Bench press----------5x5
Weighted pull-up----5x5
Day 2
One Arm static holds----------3x max hold
Handstand pushups-------------- 3x5
Front lever progressions
Planche progressions
Hill Sprints--------------------???
Day 3
Deadlift--------------5x5
Weighted Dips------5x5
Bent over row------5x5
Day 4
One Arm static holds------3x max hold
Handstand pushups---------------- 3x5
Front lever progressions
Planche progressions
Hill Sprints-----------------------???
This is probably one of the best workouts i have ever done i mean i am really noticing my body grow. I was planning on doing in for at least 6 months and increasing by 5lbs when ever i can complete each set of reps.
Do you guys think that since i will be over loading my body each time i add the 5lbs then will i still get gains or fall into the no gain category.
I don’t have much to say other than good for you for learning stupid human tricks. levers, planches and handstand pushups get all the ladies. i guess you’ve been to beastskills.com?
The muscle confusion myth of Joe Weider will never die!
Here’s a better 5X5:
M
Squats
Incline Bench Press
T
Military Press
Chin Ups
TH
Deadlifts
Dips
F
High Pull
Rows
Set the weight so that you can perform 5 reps the first set. Perhaps 4 the second set, 4 the third set, and 3 for the last 2 sets. When you can get 5 good sets of 5, increase the weight.
Forget the fancy stuff. Eat. Check back in 6 months for a new program.
Are you seeing any gains off of this? Kinda curious. It all looks like 5 reps to me, how much guessing is your body doing?
I like to stick to the same movements and get good at them, then after a certain period I switch to a different method… but these are methods I use all the time and am good at the movement. I don’t know if the “shocking method” actually exists other than an intensity shock by performing a tougher workout.
I dunno, I don’t see the point of trying to keep the body guessing. I think it might be better to keep the body zoned in to whats its doing, then change it up on periodization or redundancy.
Not a big fan of the “guessing” theory. I like the adaptation theory and periodization. “shocking & guessing”…WTF is that anyway?
