at 270lbs, bald, ugly, tattooed, and overall unapproachable and mean looking, I generally don’t get questioned on much of anything there, even when I use a plethora of chalk right beneath the sign that says ‘No Chalk’

This made me laugh.
It made me envious. I have to cover up my chalk use by using an eco ball.
remembered another place nearby that I might start training at occasionaly. just checked their website and they now have a monolift. used to be more of a hardcore bb’er gym, but heard they had seen the light, lol. probably check it out some time next week

I’ve shaved my head, booked another tat appointment and have gone off the diet…

Coffee was not effen cutting it. Bright and chipper as can be now, should be good until midnight, lol. Will need the energy, kids T-Ball starts tonight.
A monolift. I sure wanna try one of those someday seeing as how I’m always such a bozo walking out the weight. I call 'em “stumble-outs” rather than walkouts.
I remember the first time i used a mono lift, it was at a meet. Set-up was on a stage in a ballroom so lots of open space to begin with. I unracked the weight and stepped back like normal and the mono did its thing. I looked up at head judge to get signal and looked at the mono lift and felt like i was 10 feet away. I am doing my squat and remember thinking how the hell am i ever going to get all the way back to the rack. Had to laugh at that one after the attempt was over.

I see that a lot of meets, especially when it is say a USAPL or USPF guy competing raw in a mutliply fed. I still have not adjusted to not walking my squats our 100%, sometimes that extra step focuses you a little more. But you are leaving lbs. on the platform.

yes we smaller folk are living vicariously through you.
you’ve seen my little vids im kind of a medium guy-
yet somehow I never get asked to not do something at gyms.
I think its the black t-shirts.
I think it is a confidence thing. If you know what you are doing the Timmy the Trainers of the world will step aside. About a year ago a bunch of guys came to my commercial gym while one of the hardcore gyms was transitioning. They were dorks about it and got in trouble right away re chalk and other things.
I guess the upside to living in a large city (I assume you live in or near a big city) is the plethora of gyms to check out. We have more gyms than you can shake a stick at in SLC, but the ones I have been in all suck
MJ, I am in Minneapolis, so yes, just big enough to have opportunities, and a growing community of lifters as well. 1.5 years ago there were two monolifts in the state, now there are 8 or 9.
sent my second ipod in a week through the wash. fortunately my wife was smart enough to insure it. did listen to internet radio off my Crackberry while on the hamsterwheels. it was kind of a surreal experience listening to the Dead Kennedy’s while a Katie Perry video was playing.
today’s benching was a part of a continued exercise in stupidity
raw warm ups 140 x 10, 230 x 8, 320 x 3, 410 x 1, 3 board 460 x 3
shirt on 550 3board x 2, 640 2board x fuck it.
550 felt horrible, my shoulders, elbows and forearms are so trashed that just holding the weight sucked.
not doing Fargo, and for the next few weeks will only be doing raw bench work, heal up and then in July start training for October meet.
next cycle will be more focused on recovery, and all the little things that get me stronger without making me feel like I am about to break in half, lol
Snapper, more about what’s best right now for my family. Baby’s first birthday party that weekend, plus next weekend long drive to wife’s family get together in Michigan. Plus I can channel meet dues into new squat suit, and energy/planning into October state meet
today 40 minutes steady state cardio
happy father’s day to all, got to spend time with family today, if you are FB friend you can see a pick of my awesome brood

Yeah, even today sitting at work I just feel like a trashed bag of shit. Shoulder, elbows, upper back, forearms, etc all ache. I believe I have some sort of pinched nerve, for the last three weeks my right thumb and forefinger have been numb. Oh well, gonna squat heavy tonight, lol.
