Keep the damn kids off the lawn

benching

got abducted by some old friends last night so was a little worried about this morning’s performance

warm up 140 x 10, 230 x 6, 320 x 3, 410 x 1, 3board 460 x 2, shirt on 3board 550 x 2, 620 2board/1board x 2, full 680 x .9, lost it at top mainly because I put all my focus on getting it to touch, next time this will go fine. 2board 730 x 1, PR

rep out 320 x 15

CSR 6 x some

laterals 5 x 10

ez bar curl 4 x 12
band pressdowns 4 x 20

Why the carb load?

Nice pressing. Interesting that you note PRs on board presses. I can honestly say that I’ve never thought of such a thing. Of course, I can hardly bench. So that may be the difference!

Snapper not so much carb loading as extreme carb cycling. I wanted to see what would happen to my bodyweight and stregnth with a combination of high carbs and some other supps. Went form 264 to 273 overnight, barely within weightclass. But I felt strong as shit. Next day had about 50grams carbs and cardio and woke up, despite having beverages with friends, back down in the 260s, and visibly leaner.

And regarding board press PRs, valid excerise to track, especially for a gearwhore.

Measure your arms for me sometime. From the inside pit to the tip of longest finger. I wanna know how much longer I am than you.

That is beastly pressing! Interesting about carb cycling and the impact that it had. Did you use a particular resource to plan your days or are you just experimenting and using experience?

james

James, I have a bber friend, who does kinda the Shelby consulting thing, that I chat with, but this was mostly an experiment.

Snapper: pit to end of middle finger about 30 inches, but pit to elbow only 8.

Pete,

I try not to read your log because it makes me want to quit lifting and start doing yoga. You are a very strong and unnecessarily conditioned man.

Brian, you do pretty damn well yourself on the stregnth front. You walk in a nail weights when you are injured that are out of reach of most fully intact people.

That must be a pretty cool commercial gym. I get death stares if I do rack pulls over 405.

at 270lbs, bald, ugly, tattooed, and overall unapproachable and mean looking, I generally don’t get questioned on much of anything there, even when I use a plethora of chalk right beneath the sign that says ‘No Chalk’

not sure if it bent at the top, but it is a really stiff, crappy, smooth bar that I used. there is one good oly bar at that gym that I will use when pulling off the floor, but I usually try to get one of POS bars for rack pulls

At my current commercial gym, chalk is technically allowed, but talk about your passive aggressive glares…the old female trainers dont like sweaty male grunts lifting in their gym.

Crazy volume on the DE day, and here I thought I pushed my volume up yesterday. fuuuu.
