Just confirmed my Monday night pulling spot is gone. The Gym has been around since the 70s, lots of great bbers, plers, and pro wrestlers trained there. Bank has taken the building. [/quote]

wtf

happy with todays session in 58 Ace shirt

raw warm ups 140 x 15, 230 x 6, 320 x 3, 410 x 1

shirt on 2.5 board 550 x 3, 2board 620 x 2, 1board 680 x 1, 3board 720 x 1, fast, gonna take this lower next week

raw 3board 410 x 10

csr 5 x 10-15
laterals 5 x 10
shoulder press 3 x 10
curls 3 x 12-15

think I’ll be doing Fargo meet at end of June

stretch, roll, etc
40 minutes elliptical

Fargo meet, eh? Numbers picked yet?

Sucks about the gym. Wasn’t there any forewarning?

I’m interested in squat shoes. Never tried em, though. My concern is that there’s enough of a forward pull in gear. To add some heel on top of that might make it all the more difficult to sit back.

I will do Fargo BOF. Will dial in my opener over the next two sessions.

Rule of thumb for squat shoes I think is your stance. If you are wider stance, something like chucks. If narrower, squat shoes.

trained at an interesting place today. my wife reminded me it was there. used to be a hardcore gym about 15 minutes away. about 5 years ago it reinvented itself, moved into a nicer facility, hadn’t been there. called today to see if they had a deadlift platform, guy confirmed it. showed up, and it was kinda wierd. all the same old york plates and bars, first generation hammer strength and flex equipment, etc, like any bodybuilding influenced gym of the 80s or early 90s. but all in a nice new stand alone facility, with tons of new kettlebells, bands, trx straps, etc etc. they are heavy on the personal training and operate as a key club for members. by them time I was done I was given a standing offer of $10 a month if I want to join.

platform needs to have the plywood replaced

RDLs 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 315 x 5, 405 x 5, 495 x 3 sets of 5

rack pull mid shin, with an old rusted gnarly super thick york squat bar, worked up to 585 x 5, 675 x 3, 725 x 1. pathetic, my best at that height is 725 x 3, but I was gassed by the RDLs I think. and the bar.

machine shrugs 4 x 15
hack squat 5 x 10
pull throughs 4 x 15
cable abs 4 x 15

then home to clean basement from flooding from weekend storms. yay

What fed is the meet in Fargo.

APF

For $10 a month, sounds like that gym is a win. Will they fix the plywood if you request it?

Possibly, or I could offer to fix it for them. Not sure about that place though. Rumour is that they are fighting to get the other place open. Also there is another key club a short distance from me, that might work as well. The atmosphere at this one was blah.

Hey Pete do you use the prilipin chart to calculate any of your volume?

Not to a ‘T’ at this point. I have in the past, or anyway via early Westside templates. I am kind of experiementing with what I have seen with newer Westside stuff, as well as some big lifters that I have been talking to recently. Not sure on results yet, but I am being conscious/cautious to wave volume against intensity.

Over lunch, upper assitance:

taking week off of upper DE stuff

Close grip bench worked up to 375 x 6, then 315 x 12

pulldowns 6 x 8-12

incline dumbbell 100s/115s/130s x 10

hammer strength ‘yates’ row 3 x 15

dips 3 x 20

hammer curls 3 x 8

cable curls 4 x 15

rope downs/extensions 3 x 15 each

bent laterals 3 x 10 (50s/55s/60s)

Was just curious, i’ve been playing with it (loosely) and it seems to keep me in a nice combination of volume and reps per set. Be interested to see what you figure out. Westside has new stuff? Coming from Louie, Tate, Wendler?

AJ Roberts and Brandon Lilly are both pretty open about some of the stuff they are doing now, in different forums. Great training vids and group logs on their site.

that is lame news about your PL spot closing.

training looks good as usual.

for us little tykes prilipins tables do it.
when I got to train with EU influenced S&C types
they preached it.

Sorry to hear about your gym. Sadly that seems to be the trend anymore in regards to real gyms. Sadly, most of the real gyms in my neck of the woods have been forced out of business by all the pussy type gym chains.

Kevin, if you go to my FB you’ll see a picture of the actual note.

This is not my real full time PL gym that closed by the way, TCBB is still alive and active. This was my convenient semi commerical PL gym for pulling, that allows me to go and gearwhore it and still be home my seven. I will live, they may reopen and plus there are several other key card pl gyms on the brink of financial ruin that I can throw away some money at. Soon enough one will have an auction and I will get a Texas DL bar, a jack, a bunch o plates, and a shitty old rack for cheap and be good to go in my basement or garage.

Was put through a session of AIS - Active Isolated Stretching, by a buddy who works as a PT at the hoity toity gym by my work after work today. He is a 181 PLer, sometime training partner, and put me through for free. Concentrated on hips, glutes, IT, etc. He kept saying ‘holy shit’. Walking like a new man now. Will actually pay him for future sessions.

Petey! sounds like all is well here. for $10/mo I’d bring in the plywood.
