Sheeooot, another awesome highlight from yesterday. Two ‘kids’ (20somethings) that I have been ‘coaching’ for the last 1.5 year competed for the first time. One went 8 for 9 and got best 275 raw lifter, and the other hit an awesome PR on his first ever 500 lb deadlift as a 181. He got something around 460 on his second, and the two of them came running up to me asking me is he should go 480 or 490. “fuck that, go for 501” I said. When he got it I thought he was going to jump in my arms and kiss me, he was so stoked.

Umm. I didn’t. I was referencing some youngster calling you that on another thread in the PL forum. Which I found humorous.

I know. Wonder what his best bench in meet is? You actually stated that I was neither old nor ghey, and for that I am thankful…
Another highlight from yesterday: meet was in a church. Imagine how many times 50 competing powerlifters, and probably another 20 handlers/friends, said ‘God damnit’ or other blasphemy. Nothing worse than some yoked 275 tattooed guy suddenly looking sheepish because of his language…

Have some ideas for next training cycle. Also targeting to get down about another 10-15 lbs in bodyweight.
New ideas huh? Looking forward to seeing this.
Losing more weight? Coach P, do we need to have an intervention?

we’ll se about the weight thing. from my anti cut I just verified I managed to bloat 15 lbs. This is without doing a weight cut.
Got some AWESOME ideas about squat cycles yesterday. Actually shit I thought of before but thought was retarded, but if it helped do what I saw yesterday, effen a I am gonna try and run it.
Also my buddy that showed up with video cam is going to chiro school, he has some ideas to correct my knee issue, and is hooking me up with his teacher. Might seriously help my gearwhore squatting…

I am intrigued on these new squat plans…

Ms. Snap, Pete was just responding to me causing trouble in my post above. (where I intentionally called you SMapper btw, lol)
I’ve been making reference to the old and ghey thing wrt Pete because it’s about as dumb as calling MM a weak pussy. runs and hides

Awesome story. Love it.
You are doing good work, PeteS, Kudos.

WTF is ‘I got close but missed’, huh? either you make a lift or you don’t. Did you also ‘almost’ get laid last weekend? you’re not gonna ‘just miss’ passing the bar exam are you?
Ha ha, motivation appreciated.
I swear Pete, allow me my optimism, fine, I MISSED IT DAMMIT lol
haha glad I coudld help.
And dammit, I am gonna destroy the bar exam, give me a couple years to destroy law school first.
Law School? You know, all the educated people on this particular forum are gonna give ‘meatheads’ a good name. Look out!!! Would law school be considered a career change for you?
Sorry to be late in on the gratses, but grats, Pete. Sounds like even if the meet didn’t go as planned, you got your PR, and made it a success.
Raising your PR on bench after losing 30# is nuts, too. I have heard the bench suffers the most with weight loss.
Keep at it, big guy, we’re sitting here watching the #'s in puddles of drool.

I assume you are talking to me, I am only 22 haha, no career change for me, this is going to be my career
Wish I’d taken the day off and stayed in bed. Tired, cranky, everything aches, and uncomfortable with this ridiculous post meet bloat (seriously, my eyes were like slits this morning, had to pop a water pill just to hopefully get me shrunken down to something like normal).
Planning to do some light sled work and cardio tomorrow, then Wednesday return to training.
Pete, with all the PRs of your protoges, and your benching a house, that was one hell of a meet. Very interested about this new squat cycle you’re thinking about…
Well, after the weekend I ended up with an epic bloat. I woke up and my head resembled a peeled cantaloupe: round, orange, and mushy.
Time to sweat it out.
forward sled drags: 90lbs x 40yrds x 2, 135lbs x 40yrds x 2, 180lbs x 40yrds x 4
decline sits 3 x 20
cable abs 3 x 15
elliptical 30 minutes
Feel better already, a little less like a walking heart-attack.
Pete, congrats. Strong lifting. Have been waiting for Nutter’s email with the results.
hawk, Scott emailed them out Monday, they are up on PL Watch now.
This a.m. 25 minutes elliptical.
My basement flooded yesterday, and then the rain turned to snow and had about 4 inches of heavy wet crap. Every one on the road had their heads up their butts and my 20 minute commute took 1.5 hours.
Will be lifting over lunch, very quickly, then home to shovel snow and mop up water.
lunchtime brotard restoration work out:
each movement done for 4 sets of 10-15 reps. rested 20-60 seconds between sets. no interesting weights were used:
close grip incline
cable chest press
wide pulldowns
v-grip pulldowns
laterals
face pulls
rope pressdowns
cable curls
done in about 35-40 minutes.

And what constitutes an “interesting” weight?
Someone asked a question on my log pertaining to a statement you made. Can you oblige?

Not interesting = not challenging. I repped out inclines with 185. Felt like enough for today. Machine stuff I didn’t really pay attention, sat down, tried what was on there, then moved the pin accordingly.
