No. And I don’t think he’s gay. Or ghey. Or old. Maybe he’ll get that joke.

I’m late to the party but jesus effing christ Pete!
705 thats big boy numbers right there.
fantastic work.
which leg did you tear. if it’s the right one we can pretend to be big ugly twins…or something similiar.
i hope it’s just a small tear. that’s a tough area to rehab. mine still hurts all the damn time. i still get a sharp pain on warmups for squats and deads. i always have the “i wonder if it’s going to tear again” thought in the back of my mind.
Meat, it is the right one, so I guess we are big ugly twins. It is small, last night’s work seemed to actually help dissipate the bruising. Joe, thanks. Snapper, I don’t want to die old and ghey. Wait, what?
25 minutes elliptical this a.m.

Quick question - I couldnt tell from your video if your shirt is open back or closed back? I have read recently about guys cutting their closed back shirts open (fully or partially) making them more effective (or so they say) and was curious what that was all about. Do you know anything about this? Any advice?
DF, my shirt I got because it is one a training partner was willing to part with, and that fit me. not even particularly geared to my style of benching. it is a closed back Titan Fury 2ply with scooped neck and straight arms. actually about a size big on me now. I can/do arch quite a bit and this is more of a flat backed bencher shirt. I have plans for a new shirt in the not so distant future.
I don’t know at this point if opening the back of a shirt gives that much more carryover. I heard this a few years ago, but never seen it make that much difference. closed back at least you don’t have to worry about what your training partners are sweating onto the bench so much. but with open back you can get the shirt on a little easier.
at lunch, between meetings, in gym full of soccer moms:
speed bench 185 + dbl minis 3 x 3
205 + dbl minis 3 x 3, 225 + dbl minis 3 x 3
close grips 225 x 8, 315 x 8, 365 x 6
dbell bench 100s x 15, 130s x 10, x 10
rolling tris with mini 3 x 8 w/110s
laterals 5 x 10
hammer curls 65s x 10, 75s x 10, 80s x 10
face pulls 5 x 15
rope down/extension 3 x 15 each

Thanks for the fast reply. Main reason I ask is for the ease of getting it on and off without messing up the shirt. I train essentially by myself (outside of getting spots) and have to ask for help everytime I train in it to get it on and off. If I could get most of it on by myself, it would be great, but its not necessary.

Double check that the single ply SPF allows open backs, if that is the case then modify it. You will want to add a velcro strap so you can tighten it.

benched in the shirt today, worked on staying tight, when you get the chance, could you check it out?
pullin’
opener night and third session in my fancy new deadlift suit
warm ups 145 x 5 x 2, 235 x 5, 325 x 3, 415 x 1
suit on 505 x 1, 595 x 1, 665 x 1 very easy and comfortable, my opener will be somewhere around here unless I get a severe bug up my but and want to go for broke (705) on my opener. if I am smart I will do something like 670/705/735.
close stance ssb box squat 5 x 6 w/315
reverse hyper 5 x 10 with whatever was on the hyper
felt way more comfortable and confident in my suit, and how to get something out of it. wish I had a couple more training sessions left to play, oh well
just saw this, so cool. regarding the meet (I am in here twice, or parts of me lol):
nice.
bike 40/20 sprints 15 minutes
elliptical 30 minutes
stepped on scale, all lined up to be competing more than 30lbs under last meet…

yeah, 30 lbs down and all lined up for some nice PRs.
And feeling strong and borderline athletic at the same time = win/win.
