It wont be happening again. I did it with 205 first and completed the whole thing without too much difficulty. Upped it to 225 and was punished on the 4 board.

then went and watched a training partner attempt 660 at the state USAPL meet. it was a miss, he shoulda had it, but nerves got the best of him

then went out for wings and beers with a 1/2 dozen training partners. rare occurrence, i was the smallest guy at the table.

Well, he gave it a hell of a run and has some balls, that’s what it’s all about.

He handled the weight with confidence, it just wasn’t his day. All part of it.

From my standpoint, it was great to see you guys there and I’m looking forward to watching some weight get thrown around at Nutter’s upcoming meet. Damminga and the crew are good for the sport.

Keep training hard and we’ll see you there.

He’s smashed that weight as a warm up in the gym. He literally lost 20 lbs that week due to nerves/suddenly not able to eat. Lord knows though I have effed up more than my share of meets due to nerves.

Oh, and the local 80s rock station at barely audible level for meet noise? Come on… I felt bad enough for the ones who got car dealer commercials as their lift song, then I think it might have been Dave got Journey… Of course, he once nailed 740 single ply with Lady Gaga, but that’s a different story.

Yeah, I think I have done that once, saying “Oh gee, that was easy enough, let’s do it again”. Actually had a training partner run through it again because they used to wide of a grip the first time. That kind of shit can destroy next weeks benching, lol.

Oh man, that was bad. I actually walked out of the venue and cracked a few smart ass comments when Journey hit the speakers…I couldn’t take it.

You know how it is, though. You do the best with what you have…don’t know what their feed was for tunes but I suspect nobody thought to show up with a loaded MP3…things get hectic and details get overlooked.

Meet day is an early start for the directors and crew and you end up making the best of what you have.

If that happened in any other federation you would have had an immediate exodus of lifter. But in USAPL the whole ‘golf-clap’ mentality is accepted, the norm, the rule, whatever. Screw that. Plus, there was a university study done a while back on the anabolic effects of good music, boxer-briefs, and pocket Ts. None of which can be allowed in a serious lifting ‘event’.

Meet music. That could be a whole thread topic in and of itself.

I think I got “Funky Town” for one of my lifts at my last meet.

I just tune it all out.

todays cardio/conditioning consisted of 2 hours with a snow thrower whose self-propel function ceased to work.

then to commercial gym for lower ass-istance

box squats 10 x 2 w/365

gms 225/275/315/365/405 x 8, sans belt

leg press 5 x 12

45 degree back extension 5 x some

decline sits 5 x some

We used to make it a rule that you had to finish every rep. So it was ok if you had to rack amd shake your arms out a little bit and everyone would count down from 15 when they hit 0 you had to un rack and keep going. One time I had to rack that bastard 4 times to finish my set…Love these…

Colin, that’s pretty much how we run them.

This a.m. 25 minutes elliptical. Then some shoveling. Woo hoo.

My gym, my training partners, and our upcoming meet:

Inspired by some of AJs recently posted stuff. Plus, yo, it’s better to have your jack on, than jack off… or something like that.

Always better to have your jack on yo.

that is allot of volume

sinus infuktion worsened today. couldn’t sleep for shit last night due to inability to breath. managed to take a menagerie of stimulants and cold medicines, which left me feeling wierd and off balance. still happy enough with tonights results

squat, average bands, box 145 x 3, 235 x 3, 325 x 3, add briefs 415 x 2, 475 x 2. 525 x 2. + 20lb over next week and way faster, more stable. we’re movin on up

shiny new DL suit attempt 2. thankfully out of the box fit is just about perfect
415 x 2, 505 x 1, 595 x 1, 685 x well, bar moved really fast but as I got to the top I felt my face explode. yes, I had a nose blow out that was impressive to all

next week dropping the squats and will spend a shit ton of time in suit
