Keep the damn kids off the lawn

ah, nothing like benefitting from your training partner’s misfortune. heehee

Thanks for being the voice of angry reason in your gym. I usually don’t say anything to anyone, I just sit there and grump like the old fart I am.

On the upside, I am seeing more people using the squat racks for their intended purpose. saw a fella doing some nice upright oly squats, and another dude doing some overhead squats.

never see anyone squat over 3 wheels anymore though, and nobody pulls. The strong guys must have found a different gym.

Well, got a note from another training partner, big bench only guy (800lb bencher) that he is withdrawing. I guess it’s on like Donkey Kong. Need to dial it in and figure out my objectives for this meet.

upper assist/speed

rotator stuff
DE bench 185 + dbl minis, 9 x 3, 3 different grips
JM press worked up to 335 x 6
high (60 degree) incline 100s, 110s, 120s x 10
laterals 5 x 12
face pull 5 x 12
rope down/ext 5 x 20 each
cable curls 5 x 15
reverse curls 3 x 12
wrist curls 3 x 12

30 minutes elliptical

planning out some (minor) adjustments to training plan from here to meet. should be good.

Sweet. Glad for you.

Doing full power?

Maybe, maybe not. Put myself in as push pull for now, with an option to upgrading to full power. Part of this is pure laziness on my part.

The other part is pure chickenshitedness/economics. I blew my knee out a year ago, I still have issues with my left knee, especially when doing geared squatting that is not to a box. My insurance right now sucks (super duper high deductible) so basically if shit is feeling good, I will squat, if not, I will push/pull. After having nearly a year unemployed, now being the only breadwinner, and having crappy coverage, don’t want to do anything to jeop what I got going on.

Completely understandable.

I HATE when life dictates training. Hate it.

Good luck…

squat/dl assist

front squat worked up to 315 x 6, 365 x 4, looked down and forward on number 5 and dumped it

rack pull 3 pin (2 inches beneath knee) against doubled minis up to 585 x 6, these were fun in a sick way. best part is that rattle I created when hitting the pins rocked the new ‘no chalk allowed’ sign off the commercial gym wall.

pulldowns various grips 8 x 10
leg press 540 x 15, 5 x 15 @ 810
leg curl 4 x 12-15
shrugs 4 x 15
hypers 4 x 10-15
ab wheel bwt x 15, 45 x 15, bwt x 15 (drop set)

moved really fast tonight after the front squats, rack pulls to ab wheel was less than an hour. heart rate jacked up nicely.

You sound like a good family guy.

cardiac stuff
treadmill, 40/20 intervals, 1.5 incline, top sprints 9.2 mph, heart rate up to 152, 15 minutes

elliptical, steady state, heart rate circa 130, 30 minutes

nothing making me feel like I am going to die: PR

Canada_K, despite being the freak I am, family is more important than anything.

Some day, I want to be as strong as Pete with a gimpy knee…

The knee only really gets iffy with wide stanced gear whore squatting, and sometimes with the lock out on heavy pulls. I can play with my foot position sometimes and find the sweet spot where everything is strong and copacetic.

Looking stronger then ever big boy. If it wasn’t for joints breaking down getting older would be a breeze.

Priceless on the no chalk sign.

This.

Bench day

Bicep tendinitis feeling somewhat better, stuck to higher boards today to give it one more week. Also needed to un-mind fugg myself after missing a weight two weeks ago.

warm ups 140 x 10, 230 x 6, 320 x 3, 3 board 410 x 2

shirt on 500 3board x 2, 590 2board x 2, 660 2board x 1.9 left arm not making lock out. 720 3board .9. Same lock out issue but deduced I was being an idiot with my left hand not gripping the bar correctly. Same damn thing that caused me to bomb out in a meet a year ago, but I think I caught it now. Next week will be much better.

320 rep out 13.5 reps.

bent row 6 x 15 w/225

seated dumb bell curls 5 x 8-10 w/60s

band pressdown 5 x 20 w/purple band

pullaparts 4 x 15 w/mini

30 minutes elliptical today.

plus
nap w/7 month old x 2, PR

been stuck between the bathroom, bed, and then trying to ‘work form home’ all day. Missing squat/dl stuff tonight. I actually tried to choke down some chicken and rice and make it like a good little soldier, cleared the driveway and everything. Then got dizzy and reality set in. Oh well, will try to make it up this week.
