have 2 young uns, one 23 the other 25, who I have been helping out at the commercial gym. Both pretty strong and interested in PLing, got them to sign up for their first meets in March. The other day I was helping one out with his squat. Across the gym was some skinny out of shape guy doing yoga poses.
As the weight started moving north of 450 this guy started yelling stuff like ‘oh my god, my spine is gonna snap watching you do that’ and ‘oh that has to be just horrible for your back’. Much to my trainee’s amusement I snapped. I think I said something along the lines of ‘buddy, shut the eff up or I am going to ram this cheap bar down your effen throat’. The guy left us alone but then proceeded to provide unsolicited advice to random other people.

Pete, is this meet put on by Elite Barbell in Apple Valley?

Barry,
Yeah, I have decided I have no more time for idiots. It’s effen US vs THEM, and it’s fucking on:) He actually said to me and the other guy “I don’t know what planet you guys are from thinking you can lift that kind of weight” and I snapped that I was glad I wasn’t from his fucking planet.
Moment of the day: One of the older dudes was curling away with his Weider Arm Blaster. Said he got it in 78. Just awesome, I hadn’t seen one of those things since the 80s. Told him he needed to grow back his mullet and don the Zubaz if he was gonna rock the arm blaster.

Back at ya,
Saturday, I was at the gym and I had to wait for a guy doing calve raises on the dip rack I was using. One of the guys who was shaking his head looked at me and I asked him, " I don’t know, why don’t you ask him what the fuck he’s doing?" Sorry to bring this crap to your thread. Your numbers are fantastic. have a blessed week.
DL suit, and some other gearwhore items, ordered today, already on their way. Meet entry in the mail tomorrow.
Squat night.
All to box 1 pad lower than last week.
Raw 145 x 5, 235 x 5, 325 x 5
Brief, wraps 415 x 2, 505 x 2, 575 x 2, 625 x 1 feet misplaces, 625 x 2,
An inch or so lower, and 10 lbs more than last week. PR, and progress. Might have to try some tighter briefs soon though.
GHR 5 x 10
hang abs 3 x 10
cable ab thingy 2 or 3 time 15
considering I started the day with PND induced nasuea, and felt light headed going into the session, I am pretty happy.

Awesome squatting.
What suit did you end up getting?
Six twenty-five is pretty sweet. I’d love to see that on video.
My own “stupid person” story: I was doing glute-ham raises in the lat pulldown machine. I had finished not 15 seconds and was laughing wiht my workout partner when a sweaty, middle-aged lady with day-glo burgandy hair exploding out of her scalp, the sour expression of somebody who ain’t had an orgasm in over a year, and a titanic ass packed like a bratwurst into a pair of yoga lumbers over and barks at me:
“Are you gonna use that damned thing or are you just going to talk all day!”
“Oh I’m sorry, you can have the machine. And when the world stops spinning around you let me know so I can get off.”
I don’t usually mouth off, but it felt good. A total waste of my energy, but it felt good. I never did finish the GHRs because she left such a thick puddle of ass-sweat on the pad I was afraid it would melt the plastic.
DF I went with the Metal Pro. Best reviews from the pullers I interviewed.

Two bad pieces of news. So sorry.
How many people can compete at the meet? I don’t think our local/state meets fill up. The organizer just adds another flight/day if necessary. People often walk in the morning of and sign up.
Snapper, it is an ‘invitational’ meet, limited to 50 first come/first serve. The limit was set due to the state meet in October taking 14 hours or so.
Plan to keep training for it, I have one training partner, a circa 1,000lb squatter, who usually gets sick as hell two weeks out. I’ll be his ringer, lol.
