ahhh the klokov press, Im going to get on those soon they look tough as hell
Are there any cues to focus on wrt Klokov presses vs. regular btn presses besides width of grip? Thanks.
(Congrats on the great job that all your trainees are doing -very impressive indeed.)
Watching and learning,I have a buddy who runs a shieko routine couple times a year. Looks like it would kill me.Good luck with that.

Get elbows under bar.
Keep head forward
squeeze the bar, glutes and abs.
Flex the biceps as well.
Try keeping reps lower on this exercise. If in doubt do more sets not reps.

Thanks for the kind words. Ask away as I am learning as well and with my body finally responding again to strength training this is going to be a fun ride. (injuries)
bench press 295x3x3 easy-peasy all paused and fast
slingshot worked up to 385x1
deadlifts with pro short light bands worked up to 315x6 no belt. Put bar through the bands and then step on bands like a stirrup.
dips bweight x15x3
pullups/power shrugs supset. 10 pullups/10 power shrugs with 135. More like explosive hip extensions with a shrug in there.
Felt good today.
Bands added a lot of tension at right past the knees. Elitefts states at 30 inches band tension is 105 pds.
Will use the average bands from now on where it states 150pds.
Deads are feeling better.
Fridaysquats 275x3,295x3 and 315x3
OHP klokov press 135x3,145x3,145x3,155x5 and 95x30
powerclean 135x3,145x3,155x3
dips and chinnups 3 sets of 15
Looking good brother.
solid work-
I am doing the klokov press as well-
right now training is erratci - so its squat OHP maybe 3x a week
somehow that works better for me - frequency but I have to manage loading
Squats 325x3x3 atg loose belt
btn press 135x3,145x3 and 155x3x3 -thumb is is outside of the power ring.
Then a “true” Klokov Press -pinkys touching collars 115x6x5
powerclean 135x3x3,145x3x2 and 155x3x2
Some curls for the girls then and tri’s for the size. LOL
Aside from looking cool what is the main purpose of the Klokov press as opposed to a traditional OHP?
For me it helps a lot with my Thoracic area ( I broke T1 twice which caused it to fuse in a forward lean)
-
really works on shoulder mobility and flexibility.
-
Really targets the Medial and Rear delt hard where most people are in need of more development.
-
Teaches you to STAY TIGHT and to GRIND. <—cant say enough on this point.
-
On the traditional OHP some people lean a lot or start at their chins or snap their hips, with the Klokov press you start on your traps no heave-no lean you just press… IMO a lot easier to judge and to see true progress because your using strength and not Body English.
Hope this helps
PS: Start light on these for multipule sets of low reps to get used to the strain on the traps/neck/leveator region.
Good explanation thanks, how does this movement compare to regular grip behind the head press. BHP not usually recomended for lifters with shoulder issues??? Just asking.
Nice to see your WO coming along so well.

IMO if done lightly at first with just the bar and learning the bar path, should actually help with shoulder issues. These feel like a weighted dislocate.
Thank you.

Thanks-makes sense and pretty close to what I figured.
Unfortunately, other than Klokov I’ve never seen anyone look fluid on this movement. Granted, I haven’t seen many try it but those I have seen look very herky jerky which I would have to think could do more harm than good.
bench press 135x5,185x5,225x5,275x3 and 315x3x5
deadlift 225x3,275x3,315x3x2,365x1,405x1,455x1 and 475x1.
405x3x3.
No pain in the pulls finally. video was last set of 405.
Now I can finally start pulling again with some intensity.
Woohoo!!!
Bweight 224

I will get video for you on Friday of me doing them. I am curious to see how I look now as well.
Rock and Roll on the deads, great work!
Big day. Congratulations on the recovery.
