? He’s dead.
What are the others in the industry saying. Do other artists think he’s a asshole or are they staying out of it because they don’t want any bad publicity as well.

I think this is the most stupid statement I can think of. Of course there is bad publicity.
Look at Michael Jackson and the pedophile shit. Lets see how he can turn that into records sells.
Also, after the 1993 case he dropped the fuck off the planet. He was coming off of Bad and Dangerous album… had best-selling album of all time. Then in 1993 he dropped off the fucking map. The King of Pop, wasn’t really heard of until he dangled his kid out of a window.
So if you could, please tell me how to spin Pedophile into a marketing scheme making him more successful
Please. Pedophilia, murder and rape may be the only exceptions. I hope you aren’t arguing that being a douche is the same as being accused of pedophilia.
Being a fucking drunk hasn’t hurt Morton Downy Jr. either.
I think you mean Robert Downy Jr. Morton Downy is the douchebag talk show host.
Yeah but Robert is the Coke head.

Oops. I don’t know why I always got those names mixed up. They are NOTHING alike.

I’m talking about the one in 1993… the later obviously people knew was false and instead of settling out of court like he did with his first one, he went to trial on the second one.

Well, at least Robert seems to be a nicer person publicly.
Does anyone know of any Kanye West’s music videos that have significant amount of female eye candy that I can download into my Ipod touch to do cario to. Thanks.
P.S. I already have Gold Digger so far.
Also:
How come Robert Downey Jr. did not support Terrence Howard’s continued role in Iron Man 2?

He has one called Kanye’s Workout program. Other than that, he doesn’t have videos with too much ass and titties.

Hijack much?
No one knows what went on behind closed doors. All we know is that Howard was first to be hired for the role in the first movie and when he wanted the same paycheck that he got last time, they ditched him.
Howard has a bad rep with directors but then again, maybe some of these directors are assholes.

Oh, I see. Because Howard’s black you automatically assume these directors may be assholes? Racist!

I’ve also heard that it was a money issue. Like he and other actors would have been paid more if they stood together and said “No, our contract says differently”. They didn’t join him and Howard got cut.
I guess this thread has been hijacked.

Lol
Sorry for the hijack, the mention of Robert Downey Jr. got me to thinking about “Iron Man 2”.
An apology, heartfelt or not, is NOT enough. This eccentric attention whore stole a moment that she can never have back. Who can guarantee she will stand up there in the future to again be honored? Can someone please interrupt this faggot’s next award with some boorish behavior? Please. Someone. I want to choke him out with one of his argyle sweaters.
I’ll admit I think the guy’s a douchebag, but I honestly think everyone’s infatuation with everything celebrity is one of the main problems with the world. At the end of the day, who really gives a shit? Our efforts and attentions are much better focused elsewhere.

Exactly. Now there’s an industry with unlimited growth opportunities.

LOL @ “relevant”. What the hell is that supposed to mean anyway? Does that have something to do with the level of influence or something? Album sales? Best message? This is music, you are either selling records or you’re not.
Relevence is about how you influence other artists and how you dig out a space for yourself in music.
The New York Dolls for instance sold a shit load less records than Kanye has however they have a million times more relevence in terms of their influence on modern music.
I’ve misjudged you. The New York Dolls are/were awesome, and I’m surprised to find someone else here is a fan.
And Lanky, if you think importance is limited to selling records, that you don’t know a damn thing about music at all. At all. You seem like one of the smarter posters here too, it’s just surprising you’d have such a shortsighted post.
Relevance, to me, just seems like a cool buzzword to use when trying to make an argument for or against an artist you like or dislike. We’ve already seen 4 peoples different definitions of what it means to be “relevant”. For some people, Kanye’s lyrics might speak to them. For them, his music is relevant. For me, it’s not. The word relevant is relative. At the end of the day, in this thread, all it’s being used for is to make an argument for or against Kanye.
Are the Beastie Boys relevant? They’re legends in the hip hop world but I haven’t heard them rap about anything in the past 10 years, they just ryhme words. At the same time, I’d have a problem calling legendary hip hop artists irrelevant.
The word has been used to make arguments for and against Kanye, but the guys making arguments against him are wrong, that’s all. There are plenty of ways to be relevant, if you’ve heard different definitions they may all be right. I don’t see how it’s a buzzword, have you heard it outside of this thread. As a matter of fact, I think me and Cockney Blue were the only people really arguing about Kanye on those terms but maybe I missed something. That’s why I assumed you were talking about me.
Relevance to me is just influence on popular music, and the way an artists reflects the nature of society and music at the time. That’s not a great explanation but I can’t think of anything better now.
And an artist can be relevant to someone even if that person isn’t a fan. I hate NWA, and Dr. Dre and that entire scene. But a lot of artists/groups were influenced by them, were associated with them, or followed the path they created while adding something. And if I like any of those artists (which I do), Dr. Dre is relevant.
While I don’t agree with you, that’s a hell of an example using the Beastie Boys. They’ve never been relevant to me personally (naturally, since I was born in 1990), but I always thought their early stuff was meant to parody the music landscape at the time. I mean songs like “Fight for Your Right” and “No Sleep Till Brooklyn” were satires of the heavy metal culture. I don’t know though, I never lived in the 80s.

If she can’t stand up there next year she wasn’t built to be a star.
This is Kanye West’s eleventy billionth public asshole move…shocker he is an asshole.
Perhaps one of, if not the biggest in the entertainment industry, but we already knew that.
But why this turned into a thread about racism…and whether white people can appreciate rap and black people can appreciate hard rock is beyond me.
This feels like a Michael Whitlock column.

I simply find it amusing that you say something like
The word has been used to make arguments for and against Kanye, but the guys making arguments against him are wrong, that’s all
but then say something like
And if I like any of those artists (which I do), Dr. Dre is relevant
which implies relevance is based on opinion. How can someone elses opinion be wrong?
I don’t know, it still seems like a cool buzzword used for making an argument.
FTR, I think you’re one of the better 09 posters, so in my opinion you’re relevant. On the other hand, X is one of the worst 02 posters, so he’s probably not relevant.
