Sometimes I think the gym is what keeps me sane.

Yep. Nothing burns stress like moving iron.

Hope things settle down, Wilson.

Dateline Tuesday 4:06 am

Box Squat: 135x10, 205x8, 255x5, 275x4
Decline Bench Press: 135x10, 205x8, 255x5, 275x4
Hammer Incline: 90x10, 115x7, 115x3
Z press: 95x6, 2x95x2
Pack pull 3x255x4

Fast and furious. In and out of the gym in under an hour. I was kinda happy with the decline benches. 4x275 is a PR of sort. All and all a decent training day.

JW’s morning thought: I’m being nice to my kid… She will choose my nursing home.

Nice work, you got in got your shit done and got out.

JW- Nice box squats brother…how you liking the Z press? i saw those and wondered how they would be on the low back…any thoughts? Nice PR on the decline!!!

OG the z press is pretty cool I like them and for me, they work my back pretty good without me cheating as much.

Date line: Saturday 5:30 am

Squat 135x20
Hack Squat: 3x280x5
Hammer Incline: 90x10, 115x8, 135x4
Bench Press: 135x15, 205x10, 255x5, 2x275x3
Zpress: 4x95x6
Rack pull: 3x250x4

Pretty pleased with my bench effort. 275 flew off my chest and I had some in the tank still. Threw in Hack Squats to break things up.

Dateline Sunday: 1:30 pm
Squat warm up: 135x20
1 arm bar bell rows: 65x10, 85x8, 2x105x4
Bastardizedlockoutrackemkindamanponthingy: 3x315x5
Rickshaw Shrug: 3x275x6

Found out I cannot train mid-day on an empty stomach. Its been a long time since I felt so weak and shaky from training. I didn’t have a thing to put in my stomach so I stopped after my shrugs. For the bastardized thingy, I set the bars in the power rack about mid lift for my bench press. Pulled 315 out of the rack, controlled the weight down, stopped on the safety pins and went back up to lock out and in the rack each rep. they really took a lot of effort. 315 felt heavy as hell on an empty stomach!

Dateline Tuesday: 4: 04 am

Squat: 135x10, 205x8, 2x285x5
Decline bench press: 135x10, 225x8, 2x275x5
Hammer incline 90x10, 3x115x6
Hammer shoulder press 3x90x8

Rep PR for the Decline BP. 275 felt remarkably light and if I had someone to spot me I would have tried a 300lb attempt. Hammer shoulder press is no substitute for OHP or Zpress. I will not make this mistake again!

JW’s Morning thought:The most remarkable thing about my mother is that for 30 years she served the family nothing but leftovers. The original meal has never been found."

JW- you keep doing all that squat work and they will be calling you for the next “BUNS OF STEEL” video!!! Seriously, good, good stuff…I am going to give the Zpress a try Thursday on my MP day. Training looks good!

Training seems to be coming together. Glad to hear the pressing went so well.

Dateline Thursday 3:52 am

Squat warm up: 135x20
Hack squat: 2x275x5, 275x3
Bench Press: 135x10, 225x8, 2x275x3
Hammer incline: 115x8, 125x6, 135x3
OHP: 3x135x4

Quick and dirty this morning. In and out of the gym in 45 minutes. Disappointed with the bench and OHP. 275 felt heavy as hell and couldn’t seem to get the drive off my chest. I guess I watched too many “So you think you can bench” vids. OHP was effected by the Hammer Incline. Brought in my grip on them a little bit and was really anal about not bending back to make it into more of a chest press. Apparently my OHP and squat are my weenie lifts. I need to work on them more.

JW’s morning thought: In the south there’s a difference between ‘Naked’ and ‘Nekkid.’ ‘Naked’ means you don’t have any clothes on. Nekkid’ means you don’t have any clothes on … and you’re up to somethin

JW-I love those kind of workouts, get in, get it on, get it done!!! I bet that was a really effective session.

Quick and dirty is pretty much the way to do everything.

Dateline Sunday 6:00 am

DB Bench Press: 90x8, 90x6, 90x6
Hammer Incline: 90x8, 90x5, 90x3
Pec Deck: 135x8, 135x6, 135x6
Kroc Row: 3x115x8
Barbell row: 3x75x8
Z-press: 3x95x6

DB press, hammer incline and pec deck were done as a super set. Once again all the other stuff was on a whim. I was happy with the Krocs. Kept them high and tight. I can really feel it all today.

Between life and my daughter being off to music camp at a state university, I didn’t train any at all for a while. Of course she had to call home and talk from 9:30 until lights out at 11pm to ward off the homesick demons. She did a good job and I was so proud of her growing up this past week. Meanwhile, her Daddy grew out and lazy. Gotta get my ass in gear.

JW’s morning thought: Most non-Southerners think men named Bubba are nothing more than ignorant swine who wear caps with the names of heavy-equipment dealers on the front, shoot anything that moves, listen to music about doing bodily harm to hippies, and put beer on their grits.

I’ve been practicing ‘training on whim’ lately. Its fun and changes all the time. Great work.

Nothing wrong with “whim training”. Vastly superior to the “no training” method practiced by most.

I think everybody could use periods of such training every so often.

Dateline: Tuesday 3:57am

Squat: 135x10, 205x8, 255x5, 275x4
Decline bench press: 135x10, 225x8, 2x275x5
Hammer incline: 3x90x8
OHP: 2x135x5, 135x3

Going to change things up a bit really soon. Not sure what I’m going to do, I’m sure it will be all ADD and disjointed as most things I attempt.

JW’s morning thought: There are two things man should never see made : laws and Vienna Sausages.

JW- I am kind of doing the same with my training, not sure what the heck I am doing but doing it! Like Harry said, whim training beats no training anytime!

Just finished helping pour and finish 35 yards of concrete. I wonder if that counts as GPP? Now I remember why I do not want my fall back career to be in the concrete trade. Hopefully I will feel like lifting tomorrow.

Dateline: Thursday 4:05 am

Squat warm up: 135x20
Flat DB press: 90x8, 90x6, 90x5
Hammer Incline: 90x8, 90x5, 90x3
Push ups: 10, 6, 6

Above was done as a super set. I "rested’ 3 minutes between sets doing some light elliptical work. Don’t ask me why, I’m just stoopid as hell I guess.

Well I finally have recovered from my foray into my youth as a concrete construction worker. I made it back into the gym. Between life and motivation issues, and a whole bunch of crap that is more suited for a therapist’s couch than here I’ve made it back. I don’t know what I’m really training for other than to make my britches a little bit looser and make myself physically feel better. Hopefully I can get stronger too.

JW’s morning thought: It’s called golf because all the really good 4 letter words were already taken.

way to be back- nice work

concrete work is no joke
you can vent as much or little as you want here.
