My uncle Joe doesn’t owe anyone anything at this point. He’s done enough.
It seems as though you would agree that my friend here in Lewiston should be compelled to work at the hospital, even though she doesn’t want to. I’m not sure where else you could be going with this line of thought.
Name these people. When I think of pro-capitalist authors, none have held such a ridiculously simplistic view of the world.
Simplistic views of the world are the specialty of leftists. That’s why their ideas always crash and burn in spectacular fashion.
No. I’m saying we’re all Americans and should want a system in place that takes care of us. Americans should not be suffering or dying for lack of affordable healthcare. It’s the civilized thing to do. We build hospitals in other countries.
You’ve never heard how capitalism gave us all the highest quality of life and that capitalism equals freedom?
The funny thing is, if you use the term leftist, you are referring to people who have existed for 200 years or so. I think there have been plenty of bad ideas in the preceding 5,000 years plus of human history where there were no leftists.
I don’t hate leftists. I hate leftism. The whole rotten ideology and everything it leads to. I particularly hate how it capitalizes (pun intended) on people’s good intentions to realize only power and control for a very select few.
Leftism is definitely cracking HERE IN MAINE, where many of the kind and good-intentioned liberal Democrats are coming to understand that leftists, not liberals, have hijacked the Democrat Party and shouldered the good people of Maine with many burdens that don’t belong to them.
The term goes back to the French Revolution.
In modern terms it can be another mush word that means different things to different people. I try to stick to dictionary definitions for words.
The basic idea that you are deserving of someone else’s stuff is older than humans.
We’ve said what needs to be said about the dearly departed Peanut, so why not get into a little white colonialism?
In the USA the red man now has the exact same property rights as the negro and untermensch like me.
Nothing’s stopping @jshaving from buying up a bunch of property in downtown Lewiston and becoming terrible landlord who operates as unethically as possible in a dishonest effort to make a few extra bucks, or maybe just be really lazy about the whole thing. He could have some sex traffickers and drug dealers paying for his kids’ college in no time.
Making life harder for people of all faiths and skin colors is now within his reach, if generational retribution of that sort is on his mind.
As an aside, if anyone’s got a good case for a few 10’s or 100’s of billion in federal aid to build infrastructure like hospitals, schools and fund traveling people to staff it, it would be the reservations.
I’m actually surprised no politician has floated that kind of idea in 2024. It seems like something a lot of people could get on board with. I will email Donald Trump after this post to let him know about it.
Fixing the drug and alcohol addictions remains beyond the reach of any government, unfortunately. It works the same HERE IN MAINE and everywhere else. I favor a way out for everyone that’s publicly funded, but it can’t be like it is here, where we pay for people to continue with their behavior as long as they can.
But back then, the people who we wouldn’t call leftists, stole their land. Manifest Destiny is not a leftist ideology. And one could argue it was leftists who wanted to right that wrong. Again, Ayn Rand, the darling of the godless right, said she had zero sympathy for the Indians and believed wiping them out was a good thing because… capitalism. The irony is, and it’s because she was a moron, her family had their property confiscated by the commies, and that was wrong, but when it came to the Indians, it was right.
