I got adjusted by the chiro again today and he told me to take it easy. My adjustment from Tuesday lasted about two hours. I’m trying to get this one to stick a little longer. I guess I’ll start again Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday.
CHIN UPS
BW x 10, 10, 10, 8 RDL
135 x 5
165 x 5
185 x 5
215 x 5 215 was pushing it with my wounded back.
HANG POWER CLEAN
185 x 3 x 5 sets I remembered that I have a belt for the third set. I wore the belt for the rest of the workout and had it as tight as I could get it.
DB ROW MYO REPS
105 x 12+3+3+3+3+3
AXLE CURL MYO REPS
70 x 20+5+4
I’ll call that a win. It was a decent session and I didn’t injure myself further. RDLs will replace deads for awhile.
I’m also very tempted to join a gym again. There’s one right next to my work office. I could change there and run across the lot to lift. It also has all the amenities such as a basketball court, turf with prowler, platforms, machines, pool, hot tub or some water massage thing, tanning, and more. Memberships are $21.99 per month and I think they have an annual fee but it’s still pretty cheap.
I tried taking it easy and my L5 rotated anyway. If I’m going to be out of place then there’s no point in sitting around.
185 barely qualifies as a power clean. According to CT, a power clean should finish in the 1/4 squat position. I’m closer to the 1/8th position with that weight. I also did them from a dead stop instead of allowing a quick dip before the pull.
CROSS COUNTRY RUN/WALK Ran until I didn’t want to run and then walked for a minute. My legs suck. I barely got out of breath because my legs were burning within the first minute.
Covered 1.18 total miles slogging at a 9:30 pace. 3 runs, 3 walks.
I posted last week that a friend if mine was back ion the gym last week. He has his own studio and is a strength coach, he also trains in his studio with a group of other guys. He said that he was going to start coming back to the gym for 2 reasons. 1 the gym has some machines that he doesn’t which he needs for some pre / rehab work, and 2. That he just gets fed up looking at the same 4 walls and its good to have a different scene and atmosphere. He is stronger (by a fair way) than everyone at the gym I go to but that isn’t the point for him. Being around other people who are training hard and getting after it, is motivating and its just a good environment to be a part of.
Brats are a form of sausage here. It’s like our hot dogs but they always taste better (and fattier). These are “infused” with cheese. We have different versions. Cheddar is great. Jalapeño cheddar is better but the kids can’t eat them.
Not my cooking but here’s a visual aid.
I’m ready for a change of scenery - and the machines.
I could probably put my beer money towards a gym membership!
