Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

Have you even SEEN some of the stuff you eat?

Yeah. Eating with my eyes closed didn’t work well.

End up with peanut butter all over your face that way.

Also, I’m good with eating nuts but I overdo it. The “healthy” ones are also expensive. I really struggle to get fish into my diet. I live dead center in the continental US. The stuff we get isn’t fresh and it isn’t cheap.

Fish is a good call for me, thanks for the reminder. Delicious and something I can easily squeeze into the budget again.

Depends. I believe in a deficit you’d want 40-50g at least but I don’t believe I’ve read anything that suggests it is sustainable.

I’d presume that long-term it is unsustainable, barring steroids. For health, with the definition being that your body has enough fat to do everything that it’d use fat for other than use it as an energy source some 0.35g/lbs of bodyweight (0.8g/kg of bodyweight) is necessary for optimal hormonal function, and the structural and chemical processes dietary fats is used for within the body. If a person is on testosterone, they can presumably make do with less fat.

Not that you asked for suggestions, but if avocados, nuts and eggs are out and considering,

  • Eggs have a little bit of every kind of fat (30% saturated, ~13% polyunsaturated, ~37% monounsaturated)
  • Avocados are predominantly monounsaturated
  • Nuts are mostly monounsaturated

I’d suggest

  • Monounsaturated
    • Olives or olive oil. Avocado oil if you can use it in cooking (some people can taste it still, other’s cannot)
  • Saturated
    • Animal fats, so fattier cuts, butter
    • Greek yoghurt
    • Coconut, palm, and cacao (I like coconut flakes in oatmeal and coconut oil for cooking, and I love me some dark chocolate)
  • Polyunsaturated
    • Fatty fish or fish oil
    • Flax

Olives are gross. I do cook with excessive amounts of olive oil for precisely this reason though.

This might be a goer. Would there be any benefit to this over whole milk?

I prefer the texture. Also, greek yoghurt is 10%, no? Whole milk… 3%? This probably differs across borders. I mean, depends on how “narrow” you are trying to be. I find it easy when food stuffs aren’t mixed macros. Milk, I assume is carbier.

Erm, pass. I can easily drink a litre of milk though, won’t be eating a litre of Greek yoghurt a day.

To be fair, you wouldn’t need a litre to get the same amount of fat. You’d need less than 3dl.

Yeah, but i’d drink the milk anyway.

challenge accepted :joy:
I just had a pint of Siggis followed by a 200g container of 2%fage for breakfast this morning- my gut is now very pissed, but it was delicious

Haha, nuts, nut butter, avacados, olives, you’re starting to sound like a fussy eater!

Just when it comes to decent fat sources.

To continue just a tad — at least tangentially — on this topic, this’ll be in reference to hunger more specifically, how well do you chew your food and how well-hydrated to you keep yourself?

I’m very well hydrated but I could chew my food more at times.

I’ve been at rifle training for the past three days. Our chief thinks rifles are scary so they’re not issued to everyone. I finally went to the training to get blessed to carry a rifle at work. We shot 800-1000 rounds over the past two days. I’m beat. I opted not to train yesterday and I’m glad. I don’t have the energy to train tonight either. I’ll get back on track tomorrow.

That sounds like a blast (pun very much intended). I got to put a few rounds through an AR-15 a couple months back and after the very first shot I took I was hooked haha.

This confuses the hell out of me.

Our top cop is a politician. His top priority is image. It’s working for him because he’s on some Presidential committee of police chiefs.

I’m a little fatigued from work, but in a good way. My body feels like it’s been used, tested. And it met the challenge. :facepunch:

I “should have” trained tonight. I thought about it, and realized that I train to supplement life. I was challenged this week and I crushed it. Instead of training, I decided to enjoy the evening. I can train tomorrow. :man_shrugging:
