I feel like my calories are low for someone my size. I think my maintenance is around 3000. I feel like it should be more for a guy who is 6’5" ish and 215 lbs (probably more now).
No training again today. I get to do my 5x5 leg day tomorrow morning.
I assume you’re talking about work? I picked up my car today. It’s surreal. I can’t believe I’m done with Patrol work and moving to Community Policing. But I don’t start tomorrow because I’m off! Tomorrow is the first day of my new days off. My first day will be Tuesday.
Community policing is a philosophy that promotes organizational strategies that support the systematic use of partnerships and problem-solving techniques to proactively address the immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues such as crime, social disorder, and fear of crime.
For starters, it’s the buzz word these days. Our policy actually calls the position a Beat Coordinator. My job will be to address crime trends on my beat and use whatever resources I can get to solve the problem. That could be just by sharing information with the beat officers for a traffic complaint or I might need to set up a special assignment involving plain clothes work and unmarked cars to monitor a hot spot for armed robberies. If there’s a shooting or homicide then I’ll do follow up on the neighborhood. I’ll host a meeting in the street in the week after the incident. We go door to door and ask everyone to join us. We hand out business cards, tell them what we know about the case, and ask them to contact us if they know anything. This seems to work better than talking to them at the scene. People don’t want their neighbors knowing they talked to the police.
Those are just a couple examples. I’ll also be doing follow up on domestic violence felony cases. I’ll have to contact the victim and give them paperwork regarding the case.
There’s a lot of stuff I’ll be asked to do, but most importantly, I won’t be responding to a lot of 911 calls. That’s no longer my main job and I’m very happy about that. I also get a take-home car because I’m expected to work a flexible schedule. Next Saturday, I’m going to Cabela’s because they invited first responders for their appreciation day. I’ll put on my uniform, take my patrol car and go hang out with the public for a few hours.
Had to do high volume again to reset my layout but it went well.
SSB SQUATS
225 x 5 x 5 sets Learned that the bar is 65 lbs. Thought I had 205 on the bar for a warm up set and felt incredibly weak. A quick internet search revealed that I was already at my working weight. This feels a tiny bit harder than my usual high bar squats but they were great.
DEADLIFT
305 x 5 x 5
HANG SGHP
145 x 5 x 3 sets Feeling a bit of strain on my biceps tendon. That’s unnecessary so I switched to: HANG CLEAN PULL
245 x 5 Not liking the stress on my lower back with these. Didn’t like it last time either. So… CLEAN PULL
245 x 5
RFESS (w/ DBs)
125 x 5 x 5 sets Used one 65 and one 60. It’s a small difference and I’m not jumping 10 lbs per week on a single leg movement.
Took an hour on the dot. Squats were not easy so I took longer rests. I was able to stick to my 1 minute rest for everything else. The rest of the lost time was due to talking to a regular and finding the space and equipment for RFESS.
Sweet. I just bought one yesterday while they were on sale with free shipping. The new gig at least sounds like it will keep you engaged and give you different tools to address different problems. Hope it all goes well. 3 day weekends can’t hurt…or did you get 4?
Shoulder is about 90% but everything else feels great. I haven’t fussed over my hip in awhile and it’s doing good. Squats are back to being difficult instead of painful.
