Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

Training before work is great, but I really prefer to sit around drinking coffee til about 10am and then go train.

That’s ideal for sure. It gives you time to wake up and get your bearings while your body energizes and your spinal fluid levels normalize.

I’ve had a somewhat productive day. I went to the grocery stores and mowed the front yard before the Chiefs game. I’m currently watching the game. It’s been ugly.

I plan to get my hair cut after the game and then do some conditioning work. I really don’t want to run… I’m drinking my first beer now. I might need a buzz to go run outside.

Thanks! You’re first, but that’s probably due to the time difference. It’s 1650 hrs on the 29th here.

Running

Well, I did it but it was a battle. I had talked myself out of it because I’ll be in the gym in 12 hrs. But now I don’t have to worry about running in the morning. :+1:

JOG
1 mile in 8:36. Fitbit said 0.86 miles. Body and MapMyRun said 1.02 miles.

Hill sprints/fast runs, 5 x 130 meters, walk back

Jog/walk home, 0.25 miles

Total time - 22:20

Edit: I drank two tall boys during the 4th quarter of the Chiefs game prior to running.

That’s crazy! I’ve never worked out after drinking in 25 years of training. That’s a good session. I guess it didnt slow you down. And I’ve probably worked out drunk but it was residual from the night before.

Funny you should mention it, but the first bunch of sprints I did two weeks ago I did after a beer.

I. Am. 35.

Wow. But, death and time wait for no one so the show must go on.

5 AM TRAINING

WARM UP
2 laps dynamic stuff + 2 laps run the straightaway, walk the curve. Took 9:21.

GIANT SET (3 ROUNDS)
Deadlift 245 x 5
Jumps x 3
Dec DB Crunch 80 x 10

GIANT SET (5 ROUNDS)
Lat Pull Down 1.5 reps 140 x 8
L Arm DB OHP 50 x 8 (only got 6 on last set)
RFESS x 8 ea

SUPERSET
SA Cable Lat Raise 20 x 10, 10, 10+10 partials (R Arm - 10 x 10, 10, 20)
Barbell Curl 21s 45 x 9F/9T/9B, 8F/8T/8B

Good workout but not that enjoyable. I definitely didn’t like the five round giant set today. I see myself slowly decreasing my giant sets to supersets over time. I have to decide if the training is the conditioning or if I’m going to separate it like I’ve been doing…

yeah happy belated Bday man. Chiefs game was ugly but they pulled out a win.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, just stunk it up on Offense and never quite pulled their heads out of their rear ends.

Oh well, on to Monday.

Happy birthday!

I hope the next year will be one without any setbacks in training and that you’ll get that community policing place you applied for.

I read that post and all I could think was, man I wish i was 35. I know it feels old to you and right now with your recovery you probably aren’t feeling your best. But look at it this way, you have 10 years to get better and you’ll be a damn sight fitter and stronger than me at 45. Happy birthday young man.

That’s yet to be determined!

But, considering I’ve been reading a lot about the dark side lately, there’s a chance I’ll be enhanced in 10 years. I’m seriously considering some peptides that stimulate growth hormone release to get me to the finish line of this recovery.
