Hike was great - nothing too difficult. The nausea kicked in afterwards. I spent the afternoon stuck between nausea and hunger. I also went to the bathroom about five times throughout the day.
I think I’m through it now. The wedding was nice and the only thing I drank was champagne for the toast. I was able to eat like normal again.
Beggars can’t be choosers. I started with Fat Tire but the pony keg didn’t last long. I chose Michelob Ultra next. After that ran out, I opted for some beer called Hamm’s over Coors Original. I blame the Hamm’s.
I felt normal last night but woke up before midnight with a fever and more stomach pain.
I’m hungry today but I don’t think I’m going to eat til dinner. I’m hoping I don’t feel sick again after that. We’re driving home now - only 300 miles to go.
That was the first and last time I’ll drink Hamm’s.
The more I drink various forms of alcohol, the more I appreciate these new girly hard seltzers. The lack of things like sugar and yeast seem to be treating me better. I’m confident in my manhood, so don’t be surprised if you catch me drinking White Claw.
My hangover lasted almost two days. I wondered if I mixed in a bit of a virus since I felt better, went to sleep, and then woke up with a fever. I’ve never induced a fever from drinking.
White Claw is one of the many new “hard seltzers” available here. It’s flavored seltzer water with alcohol - usually 4.5% or 5.0%. They have 0 to 5 grams of sugar depending on which brand you choose. White Claw has 2g of sugar and each can is 100 calories. It goes down very easily.
I’ve never disliked the stuff like Mike’s Hard Lemonade or Smirnoff Ice, but the sugar will make me sick after a couple. The “seltzers” remove that issue. They’re not near as sweet, but it’s a good middle ground.
I used to love Smirnoff ices and the like. I was lucky enough to have a few friends that were really into cocktails at various points in my drinking life (one of them 6 foot 4, built like a brick shithouse on steroids), who introduced me to all sorts of awesome stuff. I like to treat the missus to some of the easier ones occasionally and it would be rude not to join in, right? For easy and awesome, Prossecco and chambord is just perfect.
You’ll want to look into the Bon & Viv seltzers. I think they’ve got the best taste (granted, I’ve only tried a few sips of White Claw/Truly here and there). Very little “fake sweetener” going on with the B&V.
Truly sucks! I like the Cape Line brand. They have 120 calories and a few more grams of sugar. It’s funny how a gram or two of sugar can make a big difference in the taste. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the B&V.
Should have just gone to a dispensary and grabbed some edibles… You might have seen the difference on the scale because, “munchies”, but you wouldn’t have had a 2 day hangover…
Wish I could have. It wasn’t worth risking my job, though. It might be legal, but my hometown still disagrees. I recently had my first random drug test at work. I won’t be surprised if I get my second one in the next week or two.
But getting fired would make it easier to move to Colorado! I wouldn’t have to stress about the whole career change because it would be forced.
Everyone assumes you’re going to indulge if you go out there. I would have if I could, but ya know… life and stuff. My cousin fired up a joint in front of the family. It was a strange experience for all of us LOL
