Thanks, buddy!
Happy cake day mate
Went out to dinner with my family tonight. I wanted a burger so we hit up a local place and I had the egg burger. It was perfect - the yoke was a bit runny and it had bacon and cheese. I ate way too many truffle fries and then came home and had dessert - chocolate sheet cake.
I’ve drank over 50 ounces of water and I’m still thirsty. I expect to weigh 246 tomorrow.
To be a gimp you are sure moving some serious weight
Happy birthday Big J.
Nice dinner, I’ve only recently discovered the egg on a burger thing. That’s good.
After watching NFL I’ve also found “Roethlisburger” damn that’s a good burger.
There is afterall some good shit coming from “over there” ![]()
Happy birthday man!

Sounds like a pretty ideal birthday meal to me! Congrats on another anniversary of living in this crazy world!
9.30.18
I’m officially 34 today. I woke up weighing 247.2 lbs so I crushed that 246 prediction!
My wife snagged these off eBay for me for $110!
I’m still not happy with Nike’s support of someone who donates money to cop killers, but these were purchased about a day before Nike showed their new campaign. They were also purchased from a guy on eBay so Nike already had their money. No reason to destroy Nike products that have already been purchased. That won’t affect them - - it just cost me more money.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, @duketheslaya @anon96032531 @losthog @mortdk @simo74 @danteism @OTHSteve
You ever had a pair before? They are awesome for squats.
First pair of squat shoes! I’ve never been able to spend the money on a shoe used for one or two movements, but I think I’ve invested enough time in the gym to justify the purchase.
I’m a high bar squatter so I’m thinking these will help me a ton. Who knows - maybe it will help with my hip pain?
If I keep my feet narrow then it feels better on my hip, but it’s tough to balance in the hole. I feel myself tipping backwards. I’m sure the heel lift will put a stop to that.
Don’t be so locked into foot position on the squat make little toe adjustments or width adjustments and find what feels natural.
Best thing I did was take that advice from ed coan from a YouTube video. Helped me get away from the dogmatic rippetoe squat stance.
I’ve noticed while working with my players that all hips and flexibility are not equal. Some kids do better wide and toes out some narrow and toes more straight. Depends on their hip insertions and skeletal positioning.
I’ve had to adjust the width of my stance constantly while dealing with this hip. I feel stronger with a wider stance by my hip won’t have it. I recently read that a more narrow stance is better for people with hip impingement. I’ve kind of figured that out on my own but seeing an article specifically written about it reinforced what I’ve experienced.
It’s looking like my squats will be pretty narrow with a high bar approach from here on out. That kind of sucks because it’s going to make it tougher to get to 4 plates (unless a 4 plate box squat counts).
This is coming from a guy doing multiple reps with 365 on squats and regularly squatting around 350 in workouts.
I don’t think I could have been more worthless today. I sat on my butt pretty much all day. Tomorrow will be better. It’s leg day and I have my practical portion of the application process for the new positions at work.
Rippetoe blasphemy. Force them in to a one size fits all positioning/form/depth, or make them feel broken if they can’t do it, what’s wrong with you?
(just kidding)

Those are sexy.
They look like these, but just different color?
Anyone else “feel like a pro” (for at least one session, or in the lead up to that session) when you get new pro level training equipment? lmao.
First of all, happy birthday big guy!
Second of all, those squats shoes could help with your hip pain. They sure help with mine, although my pain comes from my hip flexors and I’m not sure where yours comes from.
One thing that I’ve found to help my hips is to focus extra hard on keeping my entire back rigid. The first thing I learned how to do in a weight room was an RDL, so I know that my back rarely rounds, and I know you’re the same way. But I do think that giving that back a little extra attention keeps my body in a stronger position which somehow helps me with my hip pain.
The other thing is like @losthog said: play with your stance. It will be different with raised heels than it was with flats. I’ve read that narrower stances are generally better with raised heels. Start with your feet at shoulder width and slowly work outward if you feel the need. It can also be tempting to point your toes way out to flawlessly hit that absolute depth, but don’t. In the end you’re just going to fuck yourself up more by doing that (that’s what happened to me).
Yep! They’re the Romaleos 3. I was happy to find them on eBay. Today is leg day so I’ll see how they feel. I’m doing the exact same workout as Friday so it’s about as good as it gets in terms of comparing them to Chucks.
Happy belated bday JM!
I have these as well and really like them for squatting.
Could you elaborate a bit here?
And nice shoes… I bought a pair of Ristos earlier this year. I’m not quite sure if the help me. I didn’t suddenly squat 100 lb more, but I felt a bit more comfortable.
