Just. Don't. Suck (Part 1)

I thought of that. I’m torn because I love the idea of lifting Mon, Tues, & Wed because they’re my days off. I don’t like resting on those days if it means adding a workout to a work day.

There’s plenty of time to figure it out. I like how the level 3 rest intervals are for people with decent conditioning. I already rest for 60 sec between sets. 2 minutes feels like an eternity!

Jumping in with an unsolicited question… but what are your thoughts on setting up the stations? I work out in a pretty amenable at the least busy time, and I still hesitate to think I could set up 3-5 barbells a couple racks and a bench. Are you just in a situation that allows it?

Not really. At best I could get two bars and a rack. If I picked the power option then I could probably make it work by changing weights on the bar that didn’t need a rack.

The way my gym is set up I might even be able to snag the incline bench because it’s close to the power rack. I’d sub squat for zercher squats, have a barbell with bumpers on the floor right outside the rack, and the incline bench is the next piece of equipment nearby. I’d do pendlay rows with the bar on the floor.

Edit: I think the best option would be to have a lifting partner so you could hog more equipment without being obnoxious.

CFE Day 8

CROSSFIT INVICTUS PERFORMANCE WOD
Who am I f***ing kidding!? I need to start looking at the Fitness category. They have Competition, Performance, and Fitness WODs and they’re scaled accordingly.

2 LAP DYNAMIC WARM UP

STRENGTH WOD
Squat E2MOM for 8 rounds
(warm up: 135 x 5, 185 x 5, 225 x 5)
255 x 5
275 x 5
295 x 3
315 x 2
335 x 2 (belt on for this set)
350 x 1
360 x 1
370 x 1 (PR)
The bar nearly stopped but I managed to grind this rep. My head still hurt on the way home from the straining.

CONDITIONING WOD
AMRAP in 12 minutes
40 double unders (did 80 single unders)
20 wall ball shots 20 lb MB
10 toes to bar

I managed 2 rounds plus SU’s, wall balls, and 3 T2B. I found a new level mentally on the third round. I hit my shin on rep 3 on the single unders and then did the remaining 77 unbroken! That was by far my best set. I also did all 20 wall ball shots unbroken. I was taking two hyperventilating type breaths on every rep. I had broken these up into four or more rounds the first two times through.

Solid point on the partner. Anyone else want to cater to my early morning whims??

Just impose your week on one of the regulars.

You:
“Hey, I need your help. Could you watch this set of squats and let me know if I hit depth.”

Them:
“Sure.”

You:
“Also, could you run through this circuit with me to help me out with the timing? Thanks!”

I need to come here for ideas more often - this is great.
I really can’t lose either: either they’ll hang with me or they’ll get so annoyed they won’t show and I’ll have the whole gym to do the circuits in anyway.

Congrats on that squat PR brother! Crushing it lately. Jealous only begins to describe it…

Thanks, guys! It hurt but I wanted it. I hear @Alpha’s voice in my head on the descent. “Your legs are strong enough. Just brace!”

I almost let the weight take me forward. When I started to stall out my hips came up a bit but the bar didn’t move.

Today I get to do a 1RM push press. I’ll be disappointed if i don’t get 2 plates but it’s been awhile since I’ve done the movement. I won’t be too hard on myself since I’m out of practice.

Woke at 242 lbs. I had a double protein shake and animal crackers later than I should have so I blame that for the weight. I was hoping for less after drinking all that water.

Today’s workout doesn’t look too bad…which means it’ll probably kill me :joy:

It’s also tattoo day!

I’m excited and a bit nervous. I have high expectations and I’m hoping the artist can deliver.

I just changed the angle of the stripes and the design wasn’t big enough. He had to find a bigger flag

It just occurred to me that you might’ve been talking about the 225 push press…

Yes, yes I was. I thought you were avoiding responding about it because you just wanted to run more salt in the wound.

2 plates Big J excellent

Thanks, @mortdk!

Hog, I told you it’s all about technique. You’ll get it. 185 felt heavy but when I added straps and the belt everything felt easier.

I could brace great between attempts but my bracing wasn’t nearly as good with the bar in the front rack position.
