Today marks 10 years with my amazing wife! I’m working today but we’re having the kids stay at my parents’ house tomorrow night so we can go out and enjoy ourselves.
Woke at 242.8 lbs. I’m guessing this is due to some late eating last night. I had two bowls of rigatoni pasta for dinner and about an hour later I had two vegan hot dogs. I followed that with a scoop and a half of casein protein to make sure I got enough protein yesterday. I tend to wake up heavier if I eat late.
I would like to train today but I’m not sure if I’m going to squeeze it in or what to do. I can likely train at home tonight. I’ll have my usual weight set up and a treadmill so I could do some sort of lifting/running MetCon. I need to do bench (or at leas that’s the next lift in the rotation). My chest is also quite sore from push ups this week.
There’s a WOD that’s 5 rounds of max reps of a BW bench coupled with pull ups. That may be a good upper body workout but I’m not sure of the conditioning aspect. It’s also something I should probably save for a work day when I’m working out in my uniform (minus the vest and duty belt).
I’m considering making something up again. Bench, ab wheel, high rep BB row, and a treadmill run? Maybe a 21-15-9 rep scheme with a 1/4 mile run at the start?
Nice work big fella!
I’m sure you have already but the built by bergeron standard WODs are great meathead ones, mostly db or bb type complexes with challenging weight, plus they’re named after pro wrestlers so what’s not to love
Yes! I saw the CompTrain site but I didn’t see any workouts. I thought it was a page to sign up for training. I also looked through his CrossFit England page with no luck. I like these a lot; most WOD’s use crap that I don’t have or want to use. It’s tough to find one that’s not doing KB swings or rowing. I know I can use DB’s but it’s still annoying.
I also have a long ways to go! I can’t do a handstand push up. I’m 6’ 5" and 240 lbs. I know, I know, don’t use height as a cop out but I’m convinced it actually matters in this case (so does my weight). I’ve also never done a muscle up. There aren’t many places with enough head room above the pull up bar for me to try it often. I’m going to have to watch some tutorials.
Round 1 took right about 6 minutes. Round 2 was a few seconds faster and I was momentarily proud of myself, but then I realized I did less reps on everything
There is this app called “Freeletics” if I remember correctly, it has some pretty decent bodyweight-only crossfit-ish workouts. They may be a bit too light for your goals but you could supplement with them.
