Just an update

its been a minute since i posted, i’ve progressed a good bit since this time last year. i flopped between ppl and the bro split but ive settled on a modified torso + limbs split.

torso - back, chest, shoulders

arms - biceps and triceps

legs - quads, hamstrings and adductors

(i throw in a few sets of abs every other session)

its 3 - 5 days weekly, prioity being legs and arms. i know its not optimal or whatever but i’ve really been enjoying it and dialed in my excersises, strict form and as close to failure as i can get.

i am not doing great regarding food, 2 meals a day or not eating. shits been all over the place for the past few months but its settled down now so im making more of an effort to push food and weight now.

im sitting at a comfortable 225-227 now, 5 10, my overall goal being to gain more muscle.

im not too concerned over the amount of weight i’m moving at this point, other than moving more.

for a long time i was stressing over what my excersise selection should be, how many reps, wether i should bulk or cut but all that matters is consistency and progression. its not as black and white as that but its the general idea. i am still a beginner, i dont know exactly what to do, but i know more than i did if that makes sense.

Idk how this is possible while you’re still 30%+ bodyfat.

You should not be prioritizing muscle growth. You need to lean out, like a lot.

You did not listen to any of the advice and just got fatter.

i used three different bf measuring meathods this morning my fasted weight was 223lbs. i can provide the measurements i took for the calculator if need be

(navy tape measure, durnin caliper, parillo caliper)

fromhttp://www.linear-software.com/online.html

i got an average of 18%.

the photos i took werent the best, but they were nearly thr exact same conditions of the ones i had posted previously

If you’re happy at this weight, then keep on going. Seriously, your goals are totally up to you. These photos would certainly indicate you’re north of 18%, but your risk tolerance there is totally up to you.

Are you taking exogenous hormones? I ask because I’d be a little concerned about gyno were I in your shoes. Certainly it can happen without a needle, especially at somewhat higher body fat levels; just something to keep an eye on.

no, im not taking anything. i know the 18% isnt accurate probably more 25%, but the gyno has been an issue before i started training. i did have a lot of stretch marks going from my biceps across my back and the side chest, so the skin would be thinner and look worse for it. i am more content with how i look now, but i am still a beginner so there will always be improvement to be made.

Yeah, you’re not 18%.
Literally almost double.

10% you have all 6 abs, brachialis separation, veins everywhere…

Do you think 16lbs (8% bodyweight) would accomplish this?
Neither do i.

Time to wake up and get your diet together.
This is NOT the time to bulk.

dawg did you read anything of what i posted? all im saying is i progressed a bit, im not saying im stripped to the bone, what i am saying is im between 20% and 25%

im not looking for approval or anything, its just an update to my original thread, i know i gained a lot of fat. im not in a rush to lose it right now. shits been tough for a while so im just happy to be able to train regularly.

Are these related?
Why can’t you eat regularly?
Have you seen any medical help?

related to a point, i had a check up 2 weeks ago and everything is perfect apart from my asthma, thats seasonal tho.

just grieving, and money has been tight. i am by no means wasting away but things are looking up now

Then start eating like you are concerned about improving body composition (if you are). More protein and less carbohydrates. You might need frequent meals to ingest optimal protein (I did).

If it weren’t for for some overhead lighting showing you actually have shoulder muscles, I wouldn’t be able to tell you trained at all.

So if you want your hard work to actually show something, then get your shit together.
Or you can keep wasting your time and effort blaming outside life events for your poor progress like you have been.

You dont want my advice, but you got it. Do with it as you will - i’ve got no more to give.

P.S I’m giving you shit because when i came here, i WAS you. A fatass in total denial about how shitty i looked. People here helped me see it and I’m hoping you’ll have the same turnaround.

Good luck, your free trial has ended.

I really appreciate this perspective.

I like this sign off. Looks like my email signature is getting an update!

In what world is this not 30+% bodyfat? Just to throw some math into the fold for some perspective.

Let’s generously put you at 30% bodyfat. And say you do a flawless cut, where you lose no muscle. You still shed about 1lb of LBM (like water) for every 2lb of fat you lose (roughly). Doing the algebra this equates to you losing ~55lb (i.e. cutting to about 170lb) just to hit a true18% bodyfat. You ABSOLUTELY need to cut ASAP if you want to be in this game long term and not affect your health.

Step 1: stop gaslighting yourself into thinking you’re only 20-25% bodyfat.

Might be worth a note that the Op based on previous posts is only 16.

Hoo boy I didn’t realize this!

OP, you really need to drop some weight. Not that it’s healthier to be overweight when you’re older; more so that it tends only to go up from here. You don’t want to set yourself up this far behind the starting line.

I’d also recommend you not post shirtless pictures on the internet.

I genuinely think the biggest flaw here was posting this as a separate thread rather than as a training log. @TheNotBigOne , ever consider starting one of those to post your updates, training and nutrition?

Sorry to hear you’ve been going through some grieving. I’m excited to hear that things are looking up for you.

topless pictures probably arent a great idea i’ll admit, but it is more useful that letters and numbers to gauge where someone is at.
