Just a Dude Trying to Improve a Little

Hello
Usually I’d not bother but….
I pray you are all well and breaking records all the time .

There, now the obligatory BS is done.

K this is NOT going to be about adding pounds to a lift, at least not directly.

I’ve a damaged hand I would like to strengthen just a wee bit (literally).
This hand, prior to injury, measured at a grip that astounded my hand therapy folks. It was, I promise, bone crushing for a very long time.
Since the injury it’s gone from totally unusable to ‘getting by.’

I do not have the physical ability to do anything very challenging for grip work & ain’t sure I should even do direct work for it cause whatever I do exacerbates pain.

Initially I thought of those spring grippers, then a tennis or rubber ball. After pondering that I concluded those are Tooooo direct.

So what I’m looking for may be a question for a hand therapist.
I need something that starts very very light, as if you were thinking of something for a ten year old…I need a very light hand only exercise to strengthen the grip. Very light.
Hand/forearm movement. Anyone?

I’ve considered if there are lift modifications that will help but it seems that the lifts use every ounce of grip , leaving none to be worked.
Baby steps. Kid gloves. Light hand strengthening….

Thanks ya all

There is a word for this.

Rubber band around all five fingers and thumb of one hand.

Spread fingers outward, pushing into and stretching band.

Bring fingers back close together.

Do 20 to 30 reps. Switch hands and repeat.

I’ve tried grippers, wrist curls, farmer walks, wrist rollers for years and never built any grip strength. So I don’t know of anything that works.

I’d flop a towel over a smooth bar and grab it with your weak hand, then use the good one to apply pulling force. Conversely- use your good hand to add resistance to pull with the weak one.
