This is hysterical. A high school kid who’s never competed is giving advice to a guy with a 1600 raw total.

Interwebs at it’s finest.

OP, keep doing exactly what you’re doing until it stops working. Don’t listen to 17 year old kids on the internet.

Spar4tee, please recognize that you have no help to offer this guy. You’re a strong kid, but you’re 17, have never competed, and are nowhere near experienced enough to help an elite raw guy improve his already sick numbers. I don’t mean to pick on you, but these boards need to be better than this. That can only happen when people know where they can and can’t help.

Sorry to be a dick, but somebody had to say it.
I know what you mean. I just think any input is valuable to a degree and I learn more from sharing mine, so it’s a win-win.
Thank you for taking that for what it was worth and not as an insult. Upon rereading I should have worded it differently. Much differently.

OP, without knowing anything about your training I can’t really give you any advice. I am not a fan of speed work unless there is a technique issue, which there doesn’t seem to be in your case.

How about a little more background. How did you peak for this meet? What is your normal split? Just a general description of your training, and why you feel like it’s not working for you anymore.
Oh yeah. I’m in college btw

@ Wayne: How many days a week do you train/do max effort type stuff for each lift?

Strong as hell man, I hope to be where your at in a few years.

Wayne have you already planned for your next meet or are taking time off from competing right now?

Oh I’m trying, it’ll just take some me a while to get there ha. I’ll be at the SPF meet in Nov. too.

Usually 3…one day for each lift. You never know, you might end up being stronger than me!

Good mornings, leg press, and back extensions

so i’ll post, i currently have the 2nd highest raw competition squat in the 198lb class from atleast 2007 in the nation(powerliftingwatch lifter rankings started in 2007) of 705lbs. the all time record has just recently been broken a couple times by the same person, but is now 760. i think there has only been 2 people to go over 712 in the 198, and those lifts are 750 and 760. 625 in the 198’s is awesome, but it’s a long road to 700, and there has not been very many that have broken the 700 raw barrier in the 198’s. so just keep that in perspective in your training. since 2007 the 3rd highest squat goes down to 688, then 655. and i didn’t see the name wayne in either of the two people with 625 squats, i didnt watch the vid, did you do the lift in a sanctioned meet? great job and keep up the training, and i hope 700 goes, but just keep in mind how elite 700 is in the 198 raw.

Wassup man…first of all congrats on your lift…that’s SICK. Wayne isn’t my first name my name Is Eric Wayne Richardson. Believe me, I understand the gravity of my goals. And I think with help I will achieve them. Yes it will be difficult, but I won’t be held back just because of the rarity of the feat. It will get done, no matter how long it takes

nice, more power to you! i hope you get, i think most people tend to shoot their goals to low. and congrats you have the 10th highest squat since 2007!

WayneTrain777 do you wrap your own knees to squat? It looked like the wrap didn’t cover much. I’d look into a better wrapping technique. You probably could get a few more pounds out of that alone.
yea i do wrap my own knees usually bt im gonna have my buddy do it this time…not only bc im not great at it, but it wastes a good amount of energy too.

check this out

I’m afraid I have no meaningful input, except to say: awesome lifts and attitude, WayneTrain. All the best on that 700!

May I ask a stupid question?

Why did you step back with the bar on your squat? I thought the point of a mono was you didn’t need to move with the weight, just straight up and down.

Excuse my powerlifting ignorance.
If you don’t train in a monolift often, it’s a habit most likely. I know when I get to meets where there is a monolift, I may forget to simply squat and not step out since I don’t have access to one any other time.
LiquidMercury said it perfectly. Actually, they tell you to do what you train, bc if you dont it will throw you off. i wanna get to a gym where there is a mololift bc it definitively saves tons of energy

Ok, I didn’t know if it was a rule/federation thing. Keep up the strong lifting.

Man, those are great lifts dude, big congrats to you! Bigger squat than I have at 250lbs.

I don’t have a specific tip for you but I would advise looking into working with Josh Bryant. He is great to work with, cheap and his programs work. Either way I wish you good luck with your goals!
