Journey Back Home

Well…I like to start this blog as somewhat as a journal and also a chance to gain some knowledge and maybe a lil support as I begin my journey back home.

When I say journey back home,I’m referring to the healthy active lifestyle I had once attained. I was in a car wreck about 2yrs ago that put me out of order for a while. In the process I gained almost 100lbs and not to mention annoying back problems.

I ballooned from 280 to 375lbs…which didn’t help my back any. I’ve always been an active person and at 280lbs I only carried a 38 inch waist and minimal fat for my height(6’3) and stature…could dunk a basketball with no running start…well maybe a lil one…lol.

A few months before I had set a personal record for myself of finally benching 405lb and squatting 685lb(I’m all rear wheel drive). I was kicking ass in my Martial Arts…and so on. But to make a very long story shorter…not short…lol…I was in the best shape of my entire life and it was changed in the blink of an eye. But I’m also grateful to breathe and write this.

So this is my Journey Back Home…back to when I could just feel good(looking good is a plus, but feeling good can never be surpased)…back to when people would asked if I played in the NFL…and when I said “no” they asked “why not?”…back to when people at work would ask why i was so big when I only ate chicken breast, apple, and a yogurt on lunch break…not knowing I eat 8 small meals a day…and so on.

Those that are “Home” know what I’m talking about. I will be there with you eventually. So hopefully I can start this as a chance to gain some knowledge, support, and maybe a few friends…or enemies…its all good. Peace

Best of luck you set the goal now just make it happen.

Appreciate it,Phill…I’m on my way…I’m down to 318.4lbs as we speak…just trying to keep everything in balance…nutrition, cardio, strength.
Thanks

As far as nutrition goes,I’ve been cleaning up my diet while gettin around 260-270grams of protein, about the same for carbs…give or take…and minimal bad fats…
As far as the workouts go,I’m seeing good progress while not draining myself…currently sitting at 317.7lbs.

Anybody have any criticism?..positive or negative? I plan to keep this workout plan for about 5-6weeks.

Your story is similar to mine except that after achieving tremendous strength, muscle and fitness goals I took a 13 year detour into alcohol, ice cream, microwave popcorn and the couch. Getting “back home” is the greatest feeling. The decision/comittment is the hardest part. You’ve done that. As you know coming back from an untrained state and doing things right will bring quick and dramatic results for a while. Just be ready for the adjustments when your progress slows down. You’re on the right track and welcome “home”.

Appreciate the welcome…progress is still going strong. I’ve taken it up a notch over the past month and feel great…clothes getting a little baggy, getting stronger, etc…as of today…sitting at 315lbs…I guess my next adjustment is getting accustomed to the married life(wedding this weekend). My fiancee is very supportive of my lifestyle habits,so I dont feel it changing much when we’re married(I pray anyways…lol).
