Join The Quest To 405 Deadlift!

I’m about 9lb short of 405. I got 180kg/396lb for 1 rep (after 175kg for 4+3/4). That’s with straps and a belt though. Still, I’m pretty happy seeing as I’ll turn 40 in November.

405x1 today! Hit a 385 PR and decided to attempt 405 too.

Sick man, congrats. Keep pulling!

Another one bites the crust (of the pizza your eatin to celebrate!)

Hit 365x6 today, back rounded a bit on last two and already feeling it about 3 hours later :(.

I doubt I’ll be doin it by the end of summer but its definitely on the top of the list for goals to accomplish for '10!
I got 315 x 3 and 335 x 1. I think Im going to stick with 3 plates until I can rep it out more comfortably before I increase weight.
Stoked!!!

435 2 days ago… can’t wait to get over 500

275 x 1 today =D muchs thanks to tmuscle member

405x3

IF you have done 405 already, would anyone want to race to a 500lb deadlift?

There’s another deadlift race thread for higher deadlifts.

yeah but thats all the way to 545. long way from 405

Pulled 140kg (310lbs) for 13 reps touch and go with good form on Monday (back went out on 14th so stopped it there). Pretty happy with this; lets see if it translates as the weeks go on.

My son Tom Jr. did 355 today at 132 pounds. We actually thought it was 345, but then looked after he did it and realized we had two tens on each side. His twin sister did 150 x 7 at 115 lbs in her third deadlift workout ever.[/quote]

Wtf are you feeding your children?!

I want an office where I can deadlift, I’d become a workoholic.

I hate every deadlifting, the soreness the next day is unlike any other exercise. It hurts my puny hands and makes me feel like a little bitch every time i grab the bar. That being said, I want a 405lb deadlift more than just about anything. Its been a goal since i first started working out. ATM, its a bit of a side goal since im focusing on PT scores. I’m still on this 10 week routine that should get me to 365 or more. hopefully 405 before the end of february. Deadlifting 405 is to powerlifting as 13 is to judaism. My 1RM is 335, i did 310for a double and 6x3 sped deadlifts today. Its gonna be a long journey, but im loving it.

I think I’ll be pulling 405lb in the coming month. I’ll post a video when I do.

Just maxed out after Sheiko #30. Second month doing the Sheiko program and I gained 160lb total.

Squat: 315lb
Bench: 245lb
Dead: 405lb!!!

   965lb

I’m extremely happy with the gains I’ve experienced doing the Sheiko program. I was out of weightlifting for a year before I started Sheiko.

We have some decent genetics. I don’t suck to bad and my dad for instance did a 215 clean and jerk at 125 lbs when he was a teenager.

Tom Jr.'s pr. He rounds his back a little. But dad’s an ART certified chiropractor. His best now is 355, 285 x 8, and 270 x10.

Tom is shooting for 2X bodyweight in the squat, 165-180 in the bench, and 360-400 in the deadlift in his meet on 9/11/10. He’ll hit over 360 and I’ll make the call on what to try. I have him working with a little self hypnosis at home. It might be enough to hit a big weight.

He’s in the 132s and will be sixteen next week. As for why the kids are doing well, example and expectations. The first gym he lifted in is my office. I have a weight stack machine in another room we can use for pulldown/pushdown/pull through or curl type of stuff. It has a safety rack built on it and brackets for benching/squatting. Got it in 1991.

In the back there we have powerblocks to 125lbs and nautilus dumbells. This takes care of 5-50 in 2.5 lb jumps. We have adjustable dumbells olympic style with regular and thick handles from ironmind. We have a buffalo bar, SSB, cambered squat bar, Texas power bar, , bent Pa. power bar for rack pulls, haha, crappy olympic bar, deadlift bar, power rack, monolift, glute ham bench, reverse hyper, ab straps, Ironmind grippers trainer to 3 taking .5 jumps. We have IM TUG, the half grippers for two fingers. Most other grip stuff, and probbaly stuff I forgot about.

He grew up getting treated and lifting with the big guys. I’ll be the third out of six or so to deadlfit 600 soon. As far as he knows, I’ve always done around there. The kid grew up with this. It’s normal to him. His sister figured that she’d like to try it also.

Her strength might dip a bit since she’s starting cross country now. She did hit three consecutive pull ups yesterday.

If you do stuff and expose kids early, it becomes normal to them and opens up possibilities. Tom wants top 100 in the deadlfit at 132 or 148. He’ll hit that in a year or so. Probably before me.

Not a big deal on the round, as long as it isn’t to bad. Your body will adapt as long as it isn’t to serious in the lumbar area.
