JJackKrash's Training/Ski Log

Thanks for the birthday wishes people!

5-5-5 Deads day, TM 440.

Deads: 110 x 10, 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 285 x5, 325 x 5, 375 x8.

BBB Deads: 315 x10, 10, 10, 10, 10.

Notes: Today felt like a fucking workout. I had one or two in the tank on the money set. I wanted to get in 5 sets on BBB. And I did it. But the last rep was a grinder, I almost puked, and I had to lie on the floor for about 5 minutes to cool down and catch my breath. No GM’s today, I will try and get them in on squat day. My lower back is roasted. I figure 63 reps at 315 or better is good enough for today.

Side Notes: My gym has a pro-card MMA match tonight. Tickets are a little spendy, but I am thinking about going. No bad seats in the house.

That was a sick training! That BBB was tremendous.

BBB deadlifts at 72% is tremendous. (thanks kimba, I didn’t have to use the spell checker). 53% on Friday had me shaking for the rest of the day.

I’m interested to see what happens now that you have adjusted things and you are not getting 15-17 reps on these 5-5-5 days.

And happy birthday youngster. Hel once said something about all secrets being revealed when you turn 50. I’m still waiting to find out what they are. Be skeptical if he tells you anything like this.

Thanks Kimba, for stopping in and for the encouragement.

Carl, I am curious as well. I intentionally set my numbers to get between 7 and 9 reps on the 5 day. I just wanted to get some work in with heavier weights. I figure I can get all the reps in I want with assistance work or finishers.

The 15 to 17 rep days had their place when I was still getting newby gains and for conditioning, but I do not think they would help much now for increasing limit strength.

As for the BBB set, I am pretty happy with it. I literally had to lie on the floor for 5 to 10 minutes after the last set to cool off and avoid puking. I did not have anything left.

Tis True.

Happy Belated olda guy.
72% on BBB’s. You are a glutton for punishment.
Keep up the good work.

happy birthday baby brother. sorry i’m late…

Thanks, OP and MJ. I appreciate it.

I am really enjoying the Master’s right now. It is one of my favorite sporting events. I should have pressed this morning, but I am just too sore from Yesterday. I will likely hit it tomorrow.

BBB Deads: 315 x10, 10, 10, 10, 10. [/quote]

I wonder why?

you oughta be sore for a week!

We’re keeping the secrets from Carl for now. We need the edge. Bet nobody told him the secrets at 40, either. BBB Deads: 315 x10, 10, 10, 10, 10, this hurt just to read.

Awesome work, Jack! That’s 7.85 tons of deads…just on the BBB.

Jesus those BBB deads are insane…

I’m finally catching up on your thread. This training session inspired me. Way to cut yourself from stone. I’m humbled.

I hope these purported secrets at 40 and 50 are worth the wait…

Wow! Some awesome training going on over here! Great job, and happy belated birthday!

Thanks, Harry, I won’t disclose any confidential information. LS, Joe, Vires, and Math, I appreciate the props. MJ, thanks for stirring up the pitchfork and straw torch crowd. That’s all I need is a mob after me.

5-5-5 day, Press, TM 190.

Press: 45 x20, 90 x10, 125 x 5, 145 x 5, 160 x6.

Superset:

CG Chins: 5, 5, 5, 4, 3

Dips: BW x10, +25 x5, +50 x5, + 75 x2.

Press Finisher: 135 x 10, 7, 3 (wow, I was done!)

WG Lat Pulldown: 150 x15

SB Curls: 40 x20, 50 x10, 60 x10, 70 x 8.

Fingers back pushup plank: 1 min (about).

Notes: Good day today, my shoulders are fried. But due to rounding, I did the same weight as the last 5’s day, and I got 2 less reps. I am not all that concerned, as I am still not totally recovered from deads. We will see how squats go tomorrow.

I am totally impressed by those dips and all that volume

Great liftin’ Jack!

Thanks George!

Squaaaats! 5-5-5, TM 415.

45 x20, 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 275 x 5, 315 x 5, 350 x7.

Front Squat Finisher: 185 x 15.

Notes: I had very little time today and it was a crowded gym. Had to get my boy to swimming. So I did the above in about 20 minutes, and I was huffing after the front squats. I had good depth today on everything, but I was GMing the money set a bit. It also felt heavier than it should have. Front squats felt decent for front squats, and they were nice and deep, but I was gassed afterwords. Not that much volume today, but I got a little something done at least.

Great job getting it done, Jack. Sometimes you gotta take what you can squeeze in.

20 minutes is how long it takes me just to get the bar on my back. Oh, to be young and studly.
