JJackKrash's Training/Ski Log

great work Jack! I have to warm up for 20 minutes before I can even start squatting…

Money sets and a finisher. What more could you want from a workout? Do you find you can get much lower with front squats then with back squats. Really pushes the limits of my flexibility.

Thanks guys! Steve, I can get really deep on front squats. They really have a different feel to them.

5-5-5 Bench Day, TM 290

Bench: 45 x 30, 135 x 15, 185 x 5, 215 x 5, 245 x 9.

Incline DB Bench: 80 x 10, 100 x8, 70 x 13.

Krock Rows: 100 x 30, 150 x 12 (rep PR +2 reps).

Bench Finisher: 205 x 10 (sucking wind here).

BB Rows: 135 x 20.

Notes: I felt good today, worked fast, got a good pump, and got out. Bench may be a rep PR–its at least close–but I am too lazy to check. Now, I’m off to the spring fair with the family. Good times.

good work here Jack.

Great work, Jack. Looking good all around.

Enjoy the Spring Fair…

Was just reading over your Smolov experience. I had done one cycle of the first phase in the past and struggled with it (big time). Had just started it again but have a serious injury that is curtailing my ability to continue. One thing I hadn’t thought about before is that it seems illogical to me that the gains from week to week are the same poundage-wise for everyone. I am 110-lb woman. A 20-lb jump the second week is HUGE for me. I’m wondering why the increase isn’t a percent rather than a flat poundage amount. Just musing aloud here.

Thank Pete and Skip! The fair was a great time.

Kpsnap, I did read somewhere that if you are starting with a sub 300 lbs. squat, you want to increase 10 lbs. the first week, then 5 lbs. the second week, rather than 20 and 10. The program written by crazy russian for male power lifters, and the numbers work for most men. 10/5 seems alot more reasonable for someone who weighs less than half of what I weigh.

245x9 must put you over a 300 max. The krock rows are impressive.

Steve, today I am pretty sure I had 300 in me, it was the first day in a while I felt decent benching. Also, note to self: don’t do Krock rows then head to fair on an empty stomach, at least not when you are on a budget.

The tractor pull was a big attraction:

Dora was a big hit, but how would you like her job?

Arrrg!

3-3-3 deadlies, TM 440.

Deads: 90 x 10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 310 x3, 350 x3, 395 x 6.

Finisher: 315 x16 (Rep PR +1 rep)

GMs to parallel pins: 45 x5, 90 x5, 145 x5, 195 x5.

Some hamstring curls.

Notes: My back was still a little torched from Yesturday, so I opted for a rep finisher instead of BBB. Training felt pretty good today.

Nice work, Jack. Good looking deads and GMs. That finisher looks brutal.

Training looks pretty good today too! 395x6!

That is some nice pulling, Jack. I can’t even imagine 315 x 16. But I can imagine the sort of food that went down the pie hole at the fair. Was fried dough involved??

Catching up. Damn good work Jack. You are really moving some weight

Hey Brother,

Good weight numbers.

Can you explain the “finisher” to me please.

Jack, your son is cute. Is it just the one kid or you hiding more somewhere??

Continued good work.

Like the pirate pictures. My son sometimes thinks he is Captain Hook. In fact, I encourage it. It doesn’t help that his dad has things like pirate ships, an octopus, swords, etc tattooed on him.

Had a day a while back where I felt like I was turning into Adam Sandler in ‘Big Daddy’. Brought the kid to the gym and he was decked out in pirate hat, plastic sword, and moonboots, despite the fact it was 70 degrees that day. Hey, it was what the kid wanted to wear. Fuggen soccer moms with their kids all decked out in Gap Kids shot me looks like I was evil. I just scowled, looked at my kid, and said ‘aye aye matey.’
