JJackKrash's Training/Ski Log

Really nice PR. 240x9? You’ve got 300+ in there…just gotta bring it out!
Great work and progress!

Thanks Pete, OG and Strick.

Pete, a 36 waist on that frame is pretty impressive. Its almost dainty! Oh, and thanks for the tip on the feet drive a while back. Its really helping.

Strick, I do think 300 is within reach. I think the Kroc rows and form work is paying off. Mt benchs feel a lot more stable now than it did even a couple of weeks ago. I also think adding a fourth day and moving dips to press day has helped.

narrow hips, which kinda sucks for squatting. doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty o gut

Wave 5, week 3, squats. TM 340. 5-3-1, 75, 85, 95 %. Weight, a svelte 223.

Squats: 45 x10, 90 x10, 135 x5, 185 x3, 225 x1, 255 x 5, 290 x 3, 325 x 8.

BBB Front Squats: 205 x 10, 10, 8, 185 x 10, 10.

Notes: I walked into the gym with a fried posterior chain. The bar felt heavy and hard to hit depth. I don’t think I hit depth until 225. My hips, ass, lower back, and legs felt tight and heavy. Good thing its almost time for a deload. That said, I am not too disappointed with 8 reps. I think they were all legal (please feel free to give depth feedback for USAPL meet coming up). And, even though the weight was coming over the front too much, I think I am making pretty good progress on squats. In June, 325 was 10 lbs. less than my tested 1RM. Also, I am pretty sure with a little rest I have several more reps in the tanks. I skipped Zerchers, but added 20 Lbs. to front squats over last week on the first 3 sets. These almost made me puke. And I hated each set a little more than the previous set. I am totally fried. Now, time to load the moving truck full of heavy shit.

Side note: I have never gone without a shave for more than 3 days in my life. Based on the youtude videos I have seen, I think the goat I was sporting today might add a few pounds to my total. I think a few tats might help as well.

Other side note: I may need to scale back my diet to make weight at 220. Yesterday I had a 4 egg omelette covered in cheese with ham, bacon, jalapenos, mushrooms, with hash browns and six large pancakes smothered in butter and syrup for breakfast. 24 oz. of 4% cottage cheese with Triskets and an apple for lunch, 1.5 lbs. of ground beef (the extra fatty kind) sauteed in Lea and Perrins for my afternoon snack. 1.5 lbs of marinated chicken breasts and 1/2 pound of grilled asparagus (dripping in butter) for dinner, and 1/2 gallon of Bluebell cookies and cream ice cream for dessert. I also had a few diet cokes, because I am watching my figure. And I felt a bit hungry when I hit the sack. This was fairly typical of my diet for the past few weeks.

nice work Jack! They all looked really strong. To my inexperienced eye they may have been marginal on depth but it is really hard to tell in a video.

Jack - really good looking squats. I am not a judge, but I would say the only ones that were questionable on depth were the 1st two reps (which I still think at least hit parallel). I think the rest were easily good. And, you got deeper as you went.
I don’t think you’re going to have a problem making weight. What I would give to be only 3# away…
Still chasing you on the reps. My money set, tomorrow, is 330#. With you tired, if I can find enough umph for 1 set, maybe…just maybe  And thanks for giving me something to chase…even if not intentional.

Soldog - you are a depth nazi! lol When I venture into a meet, I hope you’re not one of my judges! That being said, better safe than sorry! I always know I have hit depth, with room to spare, if you say they are deep enough. Thanks for keeping me/us honest!

Soldog, the depth Nazi: “No depth for you!” I like it.

Thanks guys. I was having a hard time with depth today, but I hope it was just my general state. I was pretty shot when I got in there this morning. I have watched the video several times and thought I had one or two barely legal or high reps with the rest pretty safe. But I have never been to a meet so I’m not sure what to expect.

And Strick, I expect at least 10-12 reps out of you tomorrow!

aw shucks, guys

i don’t mean no harm…

Well…3 in the 1st set, 3 in the 2nd set and 4-6 in the 3rd? I might be able to swing that. The operative word being “might”

No, dog, I appreciate the input. And Strick, I saw you squat 405, so I know you got the reps in you.

Wave 5, week 3, press. 5-3-1, 75, 85, 95%. TM 165.
Weight: 225.

Press: 45 x10, 65 x10, 95 x5, 125 x5, 140 x3, 155 x7 (Rep PR).

Superset:

Wide, neutral grip chins: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

Dips: BW x10, +20 x10, +40 x5, +60 x5, +95 x2 (Weight PR)

Superset:

Fly’s: 50s x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

Australian Pullups: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

BBB Press: 100 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 6 (hit a wall)

Hanging Leg raise: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

Notes: Probably the last time at Lifetime, pretty good workout. Forearms and shoulders were pumped. Press is creeping up. The 100 on BBB came crashing down on set 5. Dips felt pretty strong. Now its time to start loading the truck.

Nice PR Jack. Looked strong. Dips are awesome! +95#…wow!

The last paragraph made me sad. Then I remembered…I only know you from the internet anyway. You’re not really going anywhere!
Hope the move goes well, smooth and everything works out great!

Jack- Good luck with the move…the lifts will surely follow…it should all be awesome!

strong work as always jack!

what route did you decide to drive?

I hope the move is smooth and uneventful.

Nice job on the MPs, JJ!

Thanks for stopping in, everyone, and for the well-wishes.

SD, the most likely route will be Dallas to Albuquerque, to Salt Lake, to Boise, to Tacoma. It will be a game time decision depending on the weather and a few other factors. We may swing through Vegas. :).

GPP: We moved a shit-ton of heavy stuff today, the heaviest of which was a Landis treadmill from upstairs. That thing is a beast–it almost killed us on the way down. I am freaking beat.

Luckily, we were able to head down to a good friend’s Sushi joint to say goodby tonight and he laid out a pile of Sashimi (Salmon, Tuna, Flounder, Sea Bass, Orange Surf Clam, White Tuna, Yellow Tail, and Uni) and some of his special spicy Black Angus Korean spare ribs wrapped in Romaine lettuce. It was a much needed treat.

Great lifting jack.

I need a good sushi binge like that…

PRs all over the place. Great lifting. Looking forward to seeing what you get at the meet.

Sushi and some great training.
nice work.

very nice pressing and big dips.
be safe on the move.
