JJackKrash's Training/Ski Log

Thanks LS. I am likely going to do the meet. I am pretty excited about it, although I am not sure how I will do after the move and driving 2200 miles.

Wave 5, week 3, squats, 3-3-3, 70, 80 90%. TM 340. Weight: A contest ready 219.8.

Squats: 45 x10 (jump squats), 90 x10 (jump squats), 135 x5 (jump squats), 185 x3, 225 x1, 240 x3, 270 x3, 305 x14 (rep PR).

Low Zerchers (1 inch higher than usual). 135 x1, 185 x1, 225 x1, 275 x1, 315 x1, 340 x 0 (got it two inches off the pins and decided this was a bad idea).

BBB Front Squats: 195 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 8.

Notes: Squats felt good today, deep and steady, very few pauses on the reps. I hit the last rep pretty much ATG. I tried for a PR on Zerchers, but couldn 't power through it. Front squats were 10 lbs heavier than last week and pretty much ATG. I was freaking done on the last set. Pretty good session today.

Lift hard,

Jack

Wave 5, week 2, press, TM 165, 3-3-3, 70, 80, 90%, Weight 222.

Press: 45 x10, 65 x10, 85 x5, 115 x3, 130 x3, 150 x8 (rep PR)

Superset: Wide, neutral grip pullups (5,5,5,5,5,5) with dips (BW x10, +20 x10, +40 x5, +60 x5, +90 x3)

Superset (rest while other guy doing the circuit):

Flys: 40 x10, 10, 45 x10, 10, 10

Australian Pullups: 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 (feet on box even with bar)

Press 95 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

Hanging Leg Raise: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

Push-up Position Plank: 3 x 1 min. on, 1 min. off

Notes: Pretty good workout for a semi-junk day. Presses are creeping up.

Jack,
Great squats and presses! The PRs just keep coming!
Dammit. Every time I have a squat day I remind myself of how many reps you keep getting. I can’t for the life of me match them. Thanks for giving me something to chase!

Thanks LS! The reps will come, 5-3-1 is a little different than you are used to.

Ski Log–possibly final entry. It was freaking beautiful today. 78 and very little wind. We are coming off a record-shitty October and the rain has pretty much ruined my last month of skiing. October is usually one of the best months to ski here. I got a couple of sets in and it was great to be in the water. Aside from a few close friends, my club lakes is one of the few things I will really miss about Texas.

Jack, Is there much waterskiing to be done to be done in WA? Or are you going to have to trade waterskiing for snow skiing?

There are plenty of public lakes, but the season is shorter, and I won’t have access to a purpose-built private lake 15 mins. from my house like I have here. I am pretty resourceful, however.

Hope you find some good skiing up there! you enjoy it so much

Thanks SD!

Wave 5, week 3, deads, 75, 85, 95%, 5-3-1. Weight: 223.5.

Deads: 45 x10, 90 x10, 135 x5, 225 x1, 280 x5, 320 x3, 355 x9.

BBB Deads: 255 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10.

Notes: That’s it. My lower back was torched. I don’t think it it was fully recovered, but its was better than last week. I did get a few more reps on the money set today with 20 more lbs. I reset after each one and treated it like 9 singles. I doubt I could have got 10 without risking injury. My weight is also concerning me, but I have been eating every piece of shit food in sight. I will probably go back to eating cleaner after the move.

So I just became a UASPL member and signed up for my first PL meet Dec. 5. I am pretty excited.

Good deal! Congratulations! Man…the fever is catching!
What weight class are you shooting for?

  1. I have been eating like shit and weighed in at 223 this morning so I don’t think 220 will be a big deal. I really ought to be in 198 if I could lose the belly.

You and me both brother! Although I’m closer that you and with less muscle…

Hehe. I was wearing 34s and weighed 206 a month or so ago, then I saw that damn Dave Tate article about gaining weight and everything went to hell in a hand-basket. I am popping out of my 36s now so its time to reign it in.

I had to move back up to 40’s. The 38’s still fit my waist, but there is that ass issue
220 will be good. Don’t want to lose too much of the belly. That is the second power pack!
I can’t wait to see your results. Should be fun.

I’ve never been able to fit into 34s at 206

Nice work Jack,
good work on the meet.

I guess this is where I admit to wearing 32’s- but they never clear my ass.
the only time being smaller is cool

32 inch waistline and 38 inch ass. Co-worker once commented on my girlish behind… I kept an eye on him after that.

Spooning should be voluntary, always.

Wave 5, week 3, bench. 5-3-1, 75, 85, 95%. TM 250. Weight: 221.

Bench: 45 x10, 90 x10, 135 x5, 185 x5, 215 x3, 240 x9 (Rep PR).

Incline DBbench: 45s x10, 70s x10, 100s x8 (Rep PR).

Neutral Grip Chins: 8, 6, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 5 (54 total)

Super set:

    BBB Bench: 185 x10, 10, 10, 10, 10

    Kroc Rows: 130 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 15

Notes: Great day in the gym. I finally felt–for the first time–like my body was working as an integrated unit on bench. Back and scap felt stable and the leg drive was working for me. Rep PR on bench and Incline DBbench. Chins just kept coming and I had more in the tank, but I have never done more than 50 before so I stopped. I added 10 lbs to BBB bench and Kroc Rows and finished them all. Also, did 15 Kroc rows on the last set. I am wiped out. Now, time to run the chainsaw and burn some fallen trees in the back yard.

Nice work, and good luck on the meet!

Waist wise I am typically a 36 but buy the big comfort fit 38s for work pants to fit the ass and hammies. My hamstrings are currently growing the fastest they every have, getting kind of ridiculous.

JJack- Nice PR! And that is some badass rowing…well done
