It may seem that way, but I don’t. I’ve dealt with people hating me because I am Catholic since I entered first grade. So, I can recognize it when I see it.
The reason why it seems like I downplay it is because I bring it into perspective. The media talks about the Catholic Church and its problems non-stop. Acting as if we are the only organization (specially religious organization) that has an evil person in it. I point out that the Catholic Church has one of the lowest rates of it, and point out that the media routine skews its reporting to make it out to be that once your baptized as a Catholic you become a Chester or something. I point out that children in a married house hold have a higher likelihood of being molested. That is to point out the “fairness” of the media and the scandal that they create.
Then I point out the behavior of Priests as unacceptable, and that stringing them up to a tall tree is the best option I can come up with.

Because homosexual acts are sinful, CC has always said that. Doesn’t mean we’re not still called to love people that are homosexual. Doesn’t mean God doesn’t love them. The Catholic Church is not supposed to teach the truth just because people have an unnatural focus towards homosexuals? No, they teach the truth, and they also teach the others that doesn’t mean we hate homosexuals.

How can a sexual act that is displayed by almost all creatures on earth be considered sinful? To me it’s just a part of nature.
