Jillian Michaels 'America's Toughest Trainer'

Is anyone else sick of this cunt? I know I am.

I think people need to start calling her out on this bullshit, preferable with TV cameras running. If she wants to push hamster wheels to morbidly obese suburbanites that’s one thing, but the fact that she’s pretending that she’s the pinnacle of fitness is inexcusable. The woman can hardly do a couple of pullups and pushups without getting winded (Segment starts at 4:40 or so Jillian on the Drs. again 3/5 - YouTube ).

This has been your Monday morning “Fuck You” to another over hyped fitness personality.

Dude, I’m pretty sure 99% of the personalities you see representing fitness are bullshit also. That goes for personal trainers, authors and supplement companies. She wouldn’t make any money without “overhyping” herself.

Don’t hate the playa…hate the game.

What did she say that was so bad? The point about the spray was pretty good, she didn’t denigrate the Bartendaz workout, nor did she even come off as condescending.

So she’s a trainer who’s a big name now. So what?

Sorry, didn’t link to one of the many ad copies where she calls herself “America’s Toughest Trainer.”

She’s not even the toughest trainer on her own show. So I feel like when she calls herself “America’s toughest trainer” that everyone who actually trains should be offended, and maybe offer to let her come get smoked with the cameras running.

95% of women can’t even do a pullup, I thought that was pretty good. Her business is making fat people thin, not building crossfit champions or bodybuilders

I’d hit it.

The only reason we put up with her is because one day her son John is going to save the world from the evil robots.

Of course she’s not the toughest trainer in the world, but who cares? Are you going to kick and scream about an ice cream shop that says “best ice cream in the world” if you think Cold Stone is better? srsly

Edgy, you’re an understated poet

a genius of our time and I’m glad to know ya … I’d hit it too

Eat some dick flavored ice cream. It matters because people think what she’s selling will make them fit. She’s not even that fit, and what she’s selling is a load of crap that won’t even get you in the shape she’s in.

And if I can’t bitch on the internet, where am I supposed to do it?

[quote]Edgy wrote:

From behind.

What she’s selling won’t get her target audience more ‘fit’ than they currently are? She’s got a good track record for doing exactly that. She’s not saying she’s training powerlifters to squat 800 or bodybuilders to win contests.

And for the record, how many women do you know that are in significantly better shape than her? I know a few that are fairly comparable, none that just blow her away.

I LOLed

I’m no fan of hers, but I think you’re misinterpreting the moniker. The “Toughest Trainer” schtick isn’t meant to imply that she herself is the most physically fit/tough trainer in the world. It implies that she is hard on her clients and doesn’t cut them a lot of slack.

Again, I’m not a fan, but to get where she is, you need to have a few qualities:

  1. A reasonable working knowledge of fitness
  2. Attractiveness
  3. Ability to perform on camera

Yes, there are a lot of trainers who are “tougher” etc, but who don’t fit the others. Jillian has number 3 most of all, then 2, and finally 1.

Is it “fair” that this is how things work? No.

But it’s show business.

I’m prefer to to see a better trainer who also has the other qualities take the spotlight, and I’m sure in time that will happen.

That said, she didn’t perform badly on the show.

If you saw most of your favorite trainers or the ones you consider the best or toughest in front of a camera, especially with an audience present, you’d understand this.

Bingo. Her target audience doesn’t give a shit if she won World’s Strongest Man. This is like complaining because you couldn’t get jello on your burger when the place claims, “have it your way”.

always about the burgers

In all fairness it wasn’t a regular pull-up, it was a slow and controlled bicycle pull up. Might seem innocuous as a distinction, but it definitely adds difficulty to the movement. Even an L-sit pull-up is pretty hard the first time you try it.

Trainers are like WWE superstars - if they have show biz skills and decent but simple moves, they get the belt (The Rock). If they are just good at the nuts and bolts of their profession, they make an OK living (Dean Malenko).

Wait - I can’t get jello on my burger?!

Well, fuck that shit… : (

I like her because of the sexual ambiguity. I’m fairly sure she wants me, I just don’t think she wants me.

Most people who “actually train”* dont even know who she is. *(I assume youre talking about the really hardcore folks out there).

I mean, shit, I dont consider myself hardcore at all and the only reason I know her name is because of threads like this that pop up every so often.

Shes trying to make fat people less fat. Let her do her thing. And you do yours. If you truly get offended by someone else’s SELF PROMOTION, then maybe it’s time to take a step back and look at how silly that is.
