Maybe it`s region specific, but jet black hair for women seems to be the upcoming trend here this summer.
What is interesting it that (on a lady with a good tan, no goths please!) this attracts my attention far more than any extreme hair coloring stunt. Go figure. I guess I like them more classy than look-at-me.
Interesting that you equate black hair/tan body to “classy”. Do you then equate the opposite (blonde hair/pale body) to “unclassy” or is that the “look at me” thing you were talking about?
KARMA: My bad. What I meant by classy is in the line of ‘less is more’. The more the multi-colored-look-at-me effort, the less it impresses me. A woman does not need to have 2-3 colors, streaks or anime (japanese animation) colors to grab my attention. Since fashion will always be there, and herds will always follow it, might as well appreciate the few trends that I like when they do pass.
DAN C: Ah, gotcha. That makes sense. I understand everyone has their coloration preferences but saying one color indicated a personality trait was what threw me. I agree with your point about having “natural” looking hair versus the 15 shades of salon coloring that look like a bird took a shit on your head and it dripped down the sides.
KARMA: Reminds me the old bodybuilding saying : If you have to flex it, it ain’t there. In my case, it works in the beauty vs attention-grabbers question. Real beauty does not need that much advertising, IMHO.
Similar thing for fashions that show too much skin, too. Showing too much kills the mystery, leaves nothing to wonder about. While too much skin is amusing to see when you want instant-eye entertainment (like the Harley Davidson babe in TC’s article last week or someone you cross and will never see again ), it always makes me wonder why the girl invests so much in her image…something to hide, compensation, etc…?
But, hey, I’m more of the long-term, quality, classic, brains included approach. Other flamboyant styles have their value, too. Just not my type. Nothing wrong with other styles. Like they say, for ever seller, there’s a buyer, eh?
KARMA: Woops! Forgot the blonde and pale tangent. By now you will understand that it’s more of the natural vs flash idea. Blondes or redheads, natural or flashy, will evoke the same types of reactions in me, depending on how they ‘package’ themselves (classy or look-at-me). Though I will admit, historically, my radar has always beeped more for the darks/brunettes than the other types.
I had always been really more attracted to dark haired girls, especially with blue eyes; but then again…I married a light brown-haired beauty with green eyes. It’s not so much the looks I geuss, as much as it is sex-appeal, atleast for me. There were these two girl in medical school, and #1 was much more attractive than #2, but #2 was flirty, funny, cool, and liked to have fun and #1 was amazingly boring and snooty and of course thought she was better than us, so most of us were more attracted to #1. To be honest though, I haven’t noticed any dark hair trends here in Ohio yet.
I didn’t get insulted, but I must admit I was tempted to dye my hair dark red several times. But now I’m tired of my old highlights, so I’m going to grow my hair out (6 more inches to go!) so I can cut it all off and get my hair back to its original color.
