it’s even more amazing that people actually worship jesus, when he didn’t exist at all.

care to back that up?

Shit, I dont believe in god but I sure as hell believe Jesus walked this earth. Anybody that thinks otherwise its an idiot.

I never knew people actually believed Jesus didnt exist…

Rainjack,

I think you can ask the same questino about life experience wrt to GW. From what I remember, he was in the private sector, but most of his business ventures failed. The more I see GW, the more I’m inclined to think that he’s an absolute and complete moron. And not because he’s Republican and/or Christian. At this point, I’d like to see a politician run for office who is both intelligent and moderate regardless of party affiliation. Rudy Guiliani comes to mind, and he’s both Republican and Catholic, and I don’t care much for the Republican party because I think it’s been taken over by the religious wackos, and a party that once cared about important stuff like lower taxes, being pro-free market, and a strong national defense now suddenly thinks that gay marriage is the biggest threat to society that ever existed. Nor do I care much for the Catholic church because I used to be in it.

BTW - You can’t just split the country in half. Where would all of us independents go?

There is no evidence for Jesus’ existance outside of the Bible (if you consider that evidence, which I don’t)

Be careful with things like that. It can’t be proven that Jesus was God’s son. He is, however, an actual historical person.

according to whom? the only place any mention of “jesus” is found is in the bible. the bible is not proof of itself.

lol, prove that jesus existed without using the bible.

Well most of the world does. I am guessing you do not believe America landed on the moon either. You probably think there are UFOs with green aliens ready to stick a probe up your butt.

Why would we have changed our dating process to before christ and after death? Why do history books (which the bible is one of the most used history book) have him in there? Why do most some religions (yes they are considered a false religion to me but not the point) consider him a prophet?

What are you, 12? Even the most radical secularist historian believe that Jesus existed. There’s better evidence that Jesus existed than, say, Socrates or many other historical persons. The details of his life are frequently disputed, but no serious people actually doubt he existed. You might want to start here: Historicity of Jesus - Wikipedia

Let’s start with the insults.

Personal belief systems aside, could you explain the logic in this?

You don’t believe in god, but you believe in his son? So how did he do it? Where did the miracles come from if not the power of God? How can there be no son, if there is no father?

Or you are saying there was a guy named Jesus, but he wasn’t son of God and couldn’t do all the things the bible said he did? So you don’t believe that there was anything other than a man named Jesus once.

By that logic, whoever states that Jesus doesn’t exist, probably means the miracle performing son of god Jesus didn’t exist. Not that there was ever a man called Jesus before.

I realize I’m making my point by writing your side of my point, so please elaborate on how there is no God, but the son of God, Jesus is possible.

There was a man named Jesus that said he was the son of God. He was really the son Joseph, a carpenter, and Mary. He was one of MANY people at the time that claimed he was the son of God, many of whom performed ‘miracles’, and was the most succesful of the bunch. Eventually the Roman government killed him as a criminal.

Seems fairly simple. Jesus wasn’t the son of a god. Just because someone existed doesn’t mean all the stories about him are true. Thats like saying because we have evidence that Joseph Smith was a real person and existed that all the stories about his revelations are true, and we should all convert to Mormonism.

Hmmmm…

Most people will agree that Jesus, at least A Jesus who was crucified by the Romans, did exist at sometime around the time of the biblical setting. We say this because there are historical records (the Bible is not a historical record, but more like an anthology of myths) reporting his existence.

Actually, the Bible is considered a historical record.

Your argument is fallacious. Most of the world believes in Jesus so he must be real? Hmm. Argumentum ad populam-Bandwagon argument. Ah, and you follow right up with argumentum ad hominem by attacking the person…real savvy.

Actually, I’m a believer now. The bible says God and his son exist. And the bible must be right because it is the word of God and it is a reputable history book. Thus, God exists.

He probably meant Jesus the person not Jesus as the son of God. You know there are a lot of people who believe that there was a man named Jesus that was just a man.

Hope this isn’t too much off topic but I have a question for the atheists. Assuming God (or any version of a non-physical “higher power”) does not exist, explain to me if it would be wrong to murder an entire classroom full of children? If so, then why?

that’s genuinely the dumbest thing i’ve ever read, and the only reason i’m responding is to ridicule you.

I don’t think Jesus cared too much about it. “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s” and all that crap.

I’m not an atheist but, if there is a God, explain to me how it would be wrong to murder an entire classroom full of children? Surely, you can’t claim to know the morales or beliefs of a being that far removed from our understanding.
