Japanese Cars, Australian Cars, Other Cars Cool

Bump. So my prelude’s timing belt tensioner took a dump and mated the valves with the pistons.

But, I’m taking this as an opportunity and decided to rebuild it like I’ve always wanted to. I’m going to keep it N/A but should end up with somewhere in the 240 WHP range with a 2500 pound car. Should be a hell of a lot of fun. Just started ordering parts so I can post updates here if people are interested.

Anyone else here build any Hondas?

I would do real high compression to max out whatever you can get naturally aspirated, but honestly i’d boost it. Doing a rebuild for 40hp sounds like a waste. Turbos are way more fun, imho

Either way, LSD is a MUST. Even with stock power, an LSD will change everything for the better.

That is 240 wheel horse power somewhere around 300 crank. So 100 HP over stock.

It’ll be 11.5:1 with big cams. Yes, I’ll be adding a helical LSD with a stage 2 exceedy clutch.

Turbos are fun, but are also plenty of trouble. I have to rebuild most of it anyway, and if I wanted to get into boost, and more power, the cost will go WAY up and reliability way down. Besides 9000 RPM is fun too.

This is front wheel drive, it’s never going to be a drag car. And I don’t want to have to start dealing with broken drive shafts, ect.

This is also my daily driver and I should be able to keep really good gas milage n/a.

Parts at this point:
Hondata ECU
Mahle 11.5:1 pistons
ACL bearings
APR studs and bolts
Injector dynamics ID725 injectors
Skunk 2- Pro1 cams, gears, springs, retainers
Ferear 5000 vlaves
Exceed stage 2 clutch
OBX LSD with updated washers
Removed balance shafts
Lightweight flywheel?

Isnt OBX kinda synonymous with cheap ebay? I’ve never bought any of the their products, but i see cheap obx headers all over. No clue, but i wouldnt cheap out on something like a differential.

It does have some cheap parts in it. It will be torn down and rebuilt with better ones.

first part received. Ks tuned balance shaft removal kit. It’s like Christmas only Santa charges, a lot.

It’s ruff right now. That will be stage 2. A kid backed into the front end so there is. A whole in the bumper and a good dent in the hood. I’ll be replacing the hood and bumper.

My dad has a big shop he is buying paint equipment for, so I’ll be trying my hand at painting too.

Right now is just making it go.

I may be adding traction bars to the list too. To get decent sized headers, it interfiers with the front crossmember.

I can’t wait to see more.

Headers arived, now I can check to see how much i’d have to notch out of the front cross member.

Once the drive train build is finished, the engine bay is going to look better than the exterior…
