I agree the last set of repping out is a cool way to set some rep PRs
12 March
Sled drags. It sounds so boring when I just write it out like that…
james
It’s hard to describe weather and terrain that affect the sled pulls
I do like squatting multiple times a week, but I am not sure how I feel on pushing the AMRAP
On the money sets
Nice work
Glad to see you are still going strong, logging, and smashing the weight!
Got to like that 4 plate squat.
Norman
New here…read your introduction and love that you did Stronglifts. I am about to transition over to Mad Cow soon. Keep up the great work here!
Thanks Kevin. Our weather is pretty predictable but the grass, my son, and my dog keep it interesting.
Cheers Norman, nice to see you around.
You’ll love Madcow Kairiki.

Dragon flags
Foam rolling

Squats and press were done using Prelipin’s table again. I like using that as a guide. I did OHP again simply because I need to work on that lift to get it to grow.
Deads. 435 for 10 reps. Fuck yeah. Seriously, I’m really f’ing excited about that. My hams just about quit on me on that last rep though and it went up just by magic I think. I took my headphones out and around rep 7 it got pretty quiet in the gym which was odd until I noticed that everyone was looking over. After my last rep I undid my belt (I love my lever belt) and just went for a walk down the hallway. I’m sure I looked overly dramatic but it takes a lot out of me to do that work.
I did not want to do good mornings after this but I talked myself into it knowing that it’s those sets that will make the difference between a 600 pull or not.
james
that is one tremendous session
nice work James.
impressive reps indeed
435 for 10 is fucking ridonkulous…why you dont compete in at least DLing is beyond me…you would tear it up!!!
And the OHP is going up too! SS with rear delt flyes is an awesome combo…
I wish I was there to see that sight, like out of a movie where everyone begins clapping one by one
Haha…no Matty, it was more like staring at the leper. I feel like a tool because I’m not super quiet when I put the weight down then taking off for a walk just seems overly dramatic. But it’s either that or lay down.
I do like supersetting the press with rear delt flyes as I need to get that work in.
I would definitely like to compete at some point.
Kev - thanks brother. It was definitely one of my better sessions.
james
I think that 600 pull is not that far away.
How big is your gym? Just curious, in my gym, guys have deadlifted over 500 for reps and no one notices. Good lifting, by the way.

haha YES! Slow to fast, everybody…GO!
Seriously nice work. 435x10 just boggles my little 'ole brain, it does.
Joe - I hope not. I’m hoping to get that before the end of the year.
Cav - It’s pretty much in one room. I think it was just the time of day that I was doing these. It’s the bro crowd at night and literally everyone was doing arms except for me. I’ve done a triple at 500 before and didn’t garner any attention but it was during the day when the crowd is a bit stronger.
Cholulalulauluaula (could you have picked a tougher name???) - Thanks!

16 March
Squats: 3275, 315. 10345
DB Press: 100 * 5,6,8,10
DB Rows: 3140 F (no straps or chalk)
Curls: 4545 (with fat grips)
Lower body lifts are coming along nicely. I nailed 345 for 10 which gives me a theoretical max of 460. I filmed myself and I’ll post them as soon as they upload. My form is definitely improving but I still have some shortcomings like keeping my back straighter and watching my depth. But I’m happy overall with my progress and I might live to see a 500 lb squat in my life.

Gotcha. At my place the free weight section is a separate area from the rest of the gym, so the only folks in there tend to be serious.
I think the depth was exactly parallel, which is espescially impressive because you are a really long dude, awesome job James, I also saw no GMing of the back…big difference from prior squat vids.

Sled drags 650yards90lbs +sled
Sled pushes 650yards90lbs +sled
Raining today so the resistance on the sled was minimal. I also did some pushing which really, really sucked. I mean really sucked.
It seriously never rains in San Diego except on the weekend.
james
Thanks Matty. I was going through my old squat vids and noticed the same. There’s a lot to be said for just practice, practice, practice until you get it right.

March 18
Squats: 23265, 23285, 23315
OHP: 3140, 150, 180, 160, 150, 135 supersetted with rear delt flyes
Pendlay rows: 5205, 225, 245, 275, 285. 3275, 245, 225
Lying tricep extemsions: 45*90lbs + weight of ez curl bar
Squats are killing my shoulders. I was trying to figure what has been causing my shoulders and biceps to hurt and it finally dawned on me that it’s my squatting. I’m going to try widening my grip and doing more shoulder mobility work. I tried to widen my grip but it’s hard for me to keep really tight. The answer probably is to add more muscle to my upper back.
I messed around with the weight on my OHP while trying to keep within the table. Same for my rows. I can usually do a lot of volume for my back so I’m not really worried about overtraining it.
