this is about the question about steroids that some people seem to get. Remember, a lot of “muscleheads” act like jerks, and assholes, like they are better than everyone else, believe me i know. Also how you appear in person has a lot to do with it. If you have an angry look on your face, or always act crazy, that’s when people ask about steroids. Right now i am about 5’10 220 pounds, well built, and no one usually asks me if i am on steroids considering i used to only be 175. One person even commented to me that i am rather nice and happy person, and don’t act like a jock or like i am full of myself.
P.s. take that for what it’s worth.
This 17 year old kid comes up to me at the gym and very politely waits till I finish my set (which, as you know, is rare) and asks: “Sir, would you mind telling my brother and I how you got arms that big?”
Also:
I picked my oldest son up at school once after a training session, wearing a tank top, and it got real quiet on the play area …
My son smiles ear to ear and goes:
“Yup, that big dude (were in LA) is my dad”.
He said that some of the older kids approached him for the rest of the week and jokingly said: “Damn, your dad can beat up mine!”
Coolest thing was that it made him a lot of friends (this happened just after we moved here).

did you mean 3 sets of 10? I am just asking… I have never heard of someone doing 10 sets of 3 for incline dumbell press.
You’re new here, aren’t you?

Kind of, I have been looking around for about a month but yeah I havent read up a ton on Waterbury. But I got the link to all of his programs.
After a fairly serious set of DL’s, a guy told me,
"Girl, you must have the most jacked lower back ever! "
That was pretty awesome.
Yeah, I’d like to think that there are moments when it looks pretty “jacked”
(like say, for instance…after a set of 225?)

I’ve found the 10x3 protocol to be so much more effective. Even though I’m doing more sets, it is so much easier to prepare myself mentally knowing I need to get only 3 reps.

I usually get accused of steroids a lot. It’s a helluva compliment and most people don’t realize they’re complimenting you. People staring when you walk down the beach is fun too.
By far the greatest compliment I ever received didn’t involve words. Last summer, I was doing some work around the house with my shirt off. I look up at the car driving by to see a hot girl in the passenger seat glance over at me. As soon as she sees me, her jaw just drops and she stares until she’s down the road. When you get that kind of response, you know you’re doing something right. [/quote]
absolutely priceless!
The best for me was about a month ago, I caught up with a friend from college (when I was 40+ lbs heavier) at the bar. She grabbed my arm to get my attention, but then grabbed it with both hands and say “holy shit!”. I felt good the rest of the night.
Old friend I haven’t seen from freshman year (roughly 40-50lbs ago) saw me in the weight room last thursday.
He pulled me to the side after a set and told me that he was worried about my health and that I shouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.
I was confused as hell… Then he started checking my arms for injection sites and I was on the floor laughing.
Steriods? Man I drink milk…seriously!
So I went back to doing Snatches, and he went back to doing lateral raises.
Something I did notice though is that girls ALWAYS want to give me a back massage.
best is when my old boxing coach said, “So you finally learned how to eat ay?”
well im 20 an weigh 162.5 pounds now…only really bin properly liftin eatin etc for bout 3 or 4 months, but still, saw a mate who i used 2 live wit at uni last week (we travelled up 2 visit uni) an i was wearin a standard t shirt an a hoody, took off my hoody 2 get on the train, an she like poked my arms an was like where did these cum from?!
hardly a lot, but one of dem small tings dat pushes you to train harder an get bigger ![]()
Since this thread is still going, I want to add this. My wife’s best friend was over this weekend and they were looking at pictures from our wedding and some older pics. The friend compares an old pic of me to me now and said that I have gotten “massive”. Yes that comment felt good.
Now people accuse my girlfriend of getting ME pregnant. Not to be caught taking ‘1 step back’ for fun during the weekend, I got into bar holding an open cup w/protein powder and oats. The doorman had no idea what it was, he probably thought it was some strong mixed drink, but he gave me the head-to-toe and didn’t say a word. (carrying your own drink, especially an open cup, into a bar is an extreme no no)

That is some funny shit.

You can actually deadlift 225 pounds? Oh lord, world’s strongest men watch out.

Yes, I know. I have been asked that a bit often. As a person still using a traditional 35mm camera, it is a pain in the ass to get pic on this site. A digital camera is on my Christmas list. But stay tuned because more pics are in the near future.
i was doing DL’s the other day,i was doing like 285 for the 10x3,this guy who ive only seen walk around the gym sipping water(although hes bout 3x my size,im 185,and ripped)comes up to me and asks if i could give him some advice…made my month
having all your ex’s coming to you and asking if you can still “work it out” since you’ve gotten bigger, thats my all time favorite
When my wife and I go to the club all her friends usually pull my shirt off and make me dance with them - all at the same time.
That never used to happen. It’s like John Candy’s character, Den, in the Heavy Metal Movie.

CC you might want to go back and reread the original post.
Proxy is a female and deadlifting 225 for a female is pretty damned good.
Hell I got much respect for her just for deadlifting at all.
I’ve only seen one woman at my gym deadlift and that was my wife.
Now back on topic.
My wife’s best friend told me I need to wear a shirt around her since she wanted to rub my chest since her husband didn’t have one like mine.
But the greatest thing ever is seeing the look of disbelief in peoples eyes tonight when I knocked out a set of 20 kipping pull ups after I one arm snatched a 90 lb dumbbell for 2 singles each arm and a 100 lb dumbbell snatch for a single each arm.
This was after 46 reps of 65 lb dumbbell military presses and 44 strict pulls ups in 20 minutes done EDT style.
I’m 5’8" 215 lbs.
I have broad shoulders (genetics, but I also work on them) and I get compliments from “Are you a swimmer?” to “OMG ur V shaped body is so hawt!!!” If I ever decide to put a couple up, you’ll see what I mean…

HAHAHA that reminds me of one time my friend went with me to the gym. She said she was going to run on the treadmill, I wasn’t really concerned cause she just pisses and moans when I try to get her to do a real workout.
I was doing one arm snatches, (all singles or doubles for some # of sets I dont remember) and I had 110 overhead…being the self absorbed prick I am, I held it above my head for a few seconds while humming my, “who da man…you da man” song to myself.
I didn’t notice that she was right beside me and said in almost a whisper with her face turning red, “I weigh that much”.
